A FLAW IN CUSTOMER SERVICE DELIVERY...

How best can I put this to drive my point in?...
Customer services in some institutions in Ghana is simply just wack! Now that I mentioned wack, I am getting words like unsatisfactory, deficient, sloppy, corny, uncool, lousy, flawed, I could give a tall list of perfect-fit adjectives to make my point solid.

I am not going to center my take on a specified field or profession, I am going to focus more on a broader establishment, that houses a number of professions under its umbrella.
Government institutions(aban adwuma as it is popularly called in our local dialect)**.Yes. I do not know how that came to be but it looks as if most government organizations have unprofessionally good staff, who are super excellent in being poor at customer service. Remember, keyword is most and not all. If its an office you go to, you are met with unwelcoming customer service agents who make you feel deflated before you to talk. If it is about a service poorly rendered, you hear cliché cues like “leave you details we will work on it”, “we will follow up”. Funny enough, most don’t deliver on their words and you end up doing back and forth till you get tired and either give up, or you let them resolve whatever challenge in their own timeline. You'd be lucky if you are not spoken to harshly. Sad…

Even at the hospitals, its an eyesore in there. Some health workers in the government hospitals are very negligent it makes you wonder if they forgot the noble title they hold? Don’t get me wrong some live up to their expectations but for others, well it is as it is.

How do we get better after acting unprofessional?
Put yourself in the customer’s shoes is a common line we know but it is very meaningful. Regardless of the services you offer to someone, as long as the person is patronizing you, he becomes your customer. Understand that, technically you are also a customer at the end of the day to someone. Imagine yourself being dissatisfied with a service provided and you visited your service provider or called, how would you want to be treated? This makes you see things from your customers perspective. That way, you can offer you best to him/her.

Develop soft skills:
These are basic skills that helps with your interaction with other people on a professional scale. It could be communication skills, adaptability, problem-solving, persuasion, empathy among others. These qualities give you an understating of customers needs if you learn how to blend them and demonstrate what, at what time and when.

The customer may not always be right, but be the voice of your customer, speak you customers language and understand them. That way you will help your customers and help yourself professionally too.

Sort:

I feel some of these government workers use any opportunity they get to lay their frustrations on others. You’d go to the hospitals and the way the nurses would even be shouting at the patients and insulting them, omg. It’s really heartbreaking.

We need to go back to the drawing board and set things straight cos this is really not how we want to live as humans.

Thank you! It is really sad when (some) health workers, labeled as nobles do not portray their title.

Someone needs to put them in their place one day.😂

😄😄😄😄

It seems like it's a general thing. Here in Nigeria too, government staff are so terrible at customer service. It can be really frustrating.

Really? That is sad, I just wonder where they get it from. Its as if they are trained to be unprofessionally good in that lol

For the aban edwuma de3 we can’t even talk about the loopholes in customer service enough. It’s actually very sad how they behave. I don’t even blame them, most of them are not qualified and they don’t even know what they are doing.they were employed because they know someone

Tell me about it?... It's one of the unfortunate circumstances we deal with.

I was asked one day by a friend to mention the places that have poor customer services and after I mentioned bank, the next one on my list was Government offices.
Oh my God! The attitude is out of this world.
I try as much as possible not to go to such places for anything because provocation is inevitable....for someone like me.
I don't know how they do the job as if they're not paid....

They are the same people who disturbs God with prayers about jobs when they don't have one. But they secure jobs and neglect their duties. Sad...

It's very sad.
And also, it's how the world has turned to.

If you get into the position today, you would get influenced.

Trueeee or false?
I'm waiting 😂😂

lol. I am not there to experience what makes them the way they are, but honestly, I wouldn't neglect my duties. Matter of fact, my line of work is directly affiliated to customer service and trust me when I say this" we get the most irate customers'' there is.

But we don't flip on customers no matter how hard they come at us. You remain professional and also be empathetic. If you have empathy, you understand them well. At the end of the day, you are also a customer to someone, how would you want to be treated? That is the question to ask yourself.

Yeah, I get your point.

I think the reason they all act like that is because they're not monitored.
Funny enough, even the top people that are supposed to monitor the system are victim of this trait too.... afterall, it's not their father's business 😂

Is there space in your workplace? Get me employed because the way you narrated, it's obvious you're one of the bosses lol😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 abeg I'm not a boss. lol lol lol

Okay.
Second to boss, right?
