When i came across this topic, the first thing that came to my mind is “The Male Gender” i literally shook my head and smiled😄 I smiled because when it comes to the matter of the male gender, most people are slow to realize the difference in attitude when a male communicate with his same sex and when he does with the opposite gender.

Now let's quickly do a breakdown of something.
Before a “Dad” became a “DAD” he first was a “Boy” then gradually grew into becoming a “Young Man” and then a “Man who turned Dad”.
Following on the topic, before a girl comes home with a boyfriend, she's first of age to get one and then, bodly introduce to her dad as her boyfriend, which doesn't sit well with most father’s, even though their child is at a marriageable age. And some of the many reasons i believe justifies their actions includes;
Fear and Insecurity - This brings us back to our little breakdown, every man is aware of the capability his fellow man can go, especially when it comes with the dealing of women. Before a man turned dad, he was once a boy, putting him in the shoes of the so-called boyfriend of his daughter. As a boy, he knew the do’s and don't, he was very much aware of how to woo a girl and win her over and how most of his friends or probably himself, used and dumped those girls after they felt they're done. They're aware of how most guys being boys and not yet men think. One thing to note is that guys are slow to mature mentally. A father most times is scared of what they did in the past coming back to hunt their beloved daughter (s) and all this most times leads to the insecurity of the father.
Jealousy - In my opinion, I feel that men are naturally jealous creatures. Sometimes, they feel that no one, absolutely no one can love their daughter as much as they do. They dote on their daughter to the extent of feeling that any guy who comes around that daughter wouldn't be able to love them as they deserved to be loved. To them, their daughter's are fragile beings which makes them to be cared for in the most possible way and not to be mishandled.
Furthermore, most father’s often refer to their daughter’s with pet names, the commonly used one “Baby girl” I believe they don't just say it, rather it's a feeling that comes from within and was built over time which later formed an attachment to their daughter's. So you won't necessarily blame them, these actions are strictly based on jealousy and if that be the case, makes it difficult for a father to warmly accept the boyfriend of his daughter.
High Expectations -
Again, a man knows his fellow man. A father who treats his daughter as a queen, will be expecting nothing less from the boyfriend of his daughter. Every father who loves and dotes on his daughter would want to make sure that he/ she would be 100% safe in his hand. The truth is, every true Father wishes for a man for his daughter and not a boy, and because of this reason, a father would love to question and test his daughter's boyfriend both financially, physically, mentally and in all faces.
After all said, I believe this is a fact that most father’s behave like they disapprove of their daughter's choice at first sight.

All three reasons are true. Being a dad myself, I have seen how hard it is to raise kids and therefore expect more from any man who will marry my daughter in the future. With our girls, we feel they need our protection more, knowing how some men could be so mean to women. I find this write-up very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Dads can be very overprotective at times and upon meeting their daughters boyfriend they tend to act funny the first time. This might be for reasons best know to them. Maybe we should have a meeting with dads so they tell us the secret.😂
