Titan Climber - Sound, Music, and Damage Update

Still making progress! Last week we showed some abilities with their animations and effects.

This week we added sound to Eddy's actions. As well as some background music that will change when the player is in combat.

On top of that we also hooked the abilities into the damage system. Which seems to work with our initial basic tests.

There is no UI changes yet so it is a little hard to tell what is going on but you can see the debug prints in the top left corner when damage is dealt to the magma imps.

Need to make the imp react when hit and die/disappear when the health reaches or goes below 0.

This kind of marks the first update that shows actual interaction between the player and the game. There is... sort of a goal. To attack the enemies.

So dare we say... our first actual gameplay?

For those wondering we did not create the sound and music. They were taken from a humbe bundle purchase. We're not sure whether these will be final or not, may write our own yet. But wanted to add them in to the blueprints and such. So if we do decide to go different it'll be a simple matter to include in the game.

I do love the game dev humble bundles for filling things out nicely.

Hive Power Up Day - September 1st 2021 - Hive Power Delegation

I don't know how many GB of assets I have, personally, from Humble Bundle. Many. Like you, I've always been on the fence as to whether they're the right assets for the final product, but they're certainly (usually) very good. They're great for prototyping, if nothing else.

Looks great!

Thanks!

Sometimes the thought that people might see/hear something in our game and recognize it from another game that used the same asset prevents us from doing it. But at the same time, it seems to be the way everyone thinks haha. And there are so many royalty free assets now it just seems unlikely a person is going to play two games with the exact same asset and recognize it. So maybe it just is not that big of a deal.

But... then there is always that nagging feeling that you used stock assets in your game haha. We'll see how many, if any, end up in the final product. Thinking there may be more than initially planned once we get going with it. They really do make things go quicker and often are really nice in the end. Maybe just needing slight tweaks here and there.
