How is it going folks, so in this one I will get getting into some of the stuff I have been working on in the recent days, I have been going deeper into the dev game and it has not been fruitless... be it fairly stressful at times and lots of challenges along the way.
So if you been keeping up got me a server for 35 CAD ! that is a steal and a half its pretty old but still not bad and I have been able to optimize it and get it to work well for me in my space, So far I have been working on all sort of stuff, things to manage the server, locals open source apps, and also developing my own apps and experimenting with AI.
If you also follow me on them inleo threads you may be more in on the loop I share snips of some progress on there.
Anyway so as some of you may know I am actaully Satushi Nakamoto the infamous creator of !DOOK... well more so just paid someone to make it and they have been running it on their server till a few days ago.
Now ya boy is running the Dook script on my own local server! Check it out I can see my stats RC and then my other apps in the custom dash I made.
Today I had a big win a battle that I have started long ago...
Some of you that are more nerdy probably know about this thing called wake on LAN, basically it lets you remotely turn on your computer, why would one want to do that ? Well lets say you want to remote control your computer to do some work or play some games on the go, that is possible but the computer has to be on, sort of an issue when it is not and you not around with wake on LAN you can send a command to wake the computer.
Well back in the day I wanted to set this up for remote gameplay and remote control of my home pc on the go but could not figure it out, I managed to make a work around that uses a smart plug and setting the bios to boot on power loss so when the computer is shutdown I power cycle the smart plug and it triggers the computer to restart.
Well I wanted to try my had at it again but this time around for work related stuff, this server is nice but has no GPU and so it struggles with AI it can run some models slowly but it makes hell of as noise and the output of these models leaves much to be desired.
Unfortunately the upgrade path for the servers GPU needs is tricky and expensive, I have another computer I got from a friend I wanted to turn into a beast AI server, for now it is not great for AI work but was a great deal and I have the ability to upgrade just going to run me a couple thousand dollars...
Well while I save up them thousands, It still can handle a medium AI workload a whole lot better then my server without getting stupid loud.
Anyway so here is where the wake on LAN comes in, I want to be able to call upon this computer from the server to do AI workloads and then go back to sleep. Why ? Well that way I can give the server some on demand local AI capabilities, I am looking to have AI help me manage and and develop right on my server without me going back and forth between some web based model and the command line, and sure there are some CLI ai offering but them cost money (API calls) there are also some open source local options but running them takes juice and the server had non on its own now it can call for back up 🤣
This was just for the vid and the prompt was tell me a joke lol.
I asked my server to make code for a pong game and the AI on it took 10 minutes while the entire time it sounded like I had a drone in my living room, it delivered but damn 10 minutes, the googles and chatgpts can server you that up in a few seconds. well now it can take about 2 minutes with this other computer and is not getting stupid noisy and if I end up upgrading in we could be down to a few second too!
There is still a whole lot to do, I need to update the local dash to have the buttons to turn the computers on and off, but the computer will also be controlled automatically via script when the server is needs a hand 🤣 lots to build.
Also need to take the DOOK to the next level and make this shit stronger, I think it should run fairly well on my server, however if my home experiences a power outage or I lose internet service the DOOK bot is going down too, now I am looking to set it up so that there is an external service keeping track of the scrips heartbeat on my server and when it is not getting a reading it activates machine on a different network with the DOOK scrip to take over so there is no downtime, to be honest I don't really give 2 DOOKs about the uptime of DOOK but it's more so a testing an experimentation ground for the real project 🤣

Lol I have yet to try to deploy the game my server made. if it works out the box the 10 minute time is worth it lol, but now with my most recent setup its under 2 minutes including waking up the other computer and getting it started on the task and when I upgrade it I can get that down to second !PIMP !DOOK
It's nice you're pursuing your passion and kudos for getting that server at a good price. All I can say is: keep keeping on.
