What is good folks so hive we gotta talk i see a lot of chatter and there’s projects and some good buzz but something’s missing the engine isn’t firing on all cylinders i’ve been stacking sats and physical metals for years so i can smell stagnation a mile away it isn’t the tech the tech is fine actually it’s great fast and no fees that’s a killer combo but let’s be real tech alone doesn’t bring the masses.
So what’s the missing piece it’s not just one thing it’s a few big rocks we keep tripping over.
First off the front door is busted onboarding is still a nightmare we’re out here asking normal people to juggle keys and figure out resource credits before they can even say hello come on my cousin in guelph can barely use his banking app and you think he’s gonna understand what a private key is we need web2 style login simple as possible let people sign up with email get them hooked on an app and then introduce all the blockchain stuff later stop scaring people at the front gate it’s like asking someone to learn how a carburetor works before they can drive a car people just wanna get from a to b.
Next we gotta stop talking to ourselves the marketing if you can even call it that is all internal hive users telling other hive users how great hive is that’s cool but where’s the outreach to creators on other platforms who might actually wanna own their content it feels like a high school clique sometimes we need a real go to market strategy not just dhf proposals for pet projects that don’t move the needle it’s gotta be focused find a niche dominate it and then expand stop trying to boil the ocean all at once.
And that brings me to the dapps there’s cool stuff for sure but where’s the killer app the one thing that makes people say i have to be on hive for this we have the infrastructure no fees fast transactions that’s a game dev’s dream a social platform that doesn’t screw you but we’re not landing the big fish we need to incentivize and fund the teams building stuff with mass appeal not just more blog chain front ends something that solves a real problem for real people who honestly don’t care about decentralization yet
look this isn’t a hate piece it’s just tough love i’m not leaving but i’m not pretending everything’s perfect we have a powerful tool here but a tool is useless if no one knows how to pick it up and use it so we gotta fix the front door get the word out to people who aren’t already in the club and build something they actually need and want it’s that simple, let’s get to work!

Some targeted marketing at bloggers would probably be worthwhile. Some people enjoy writing for the sake of it, and we may have erred to far on the side of "writing for rewards".
Yeah, onboarding is a shitty process for people who never used crypto stuff and keys. It should be as simple as possible. I would also love to see a good crypto game which people would make join Hive to play the game. And I mean a real good crypto game. Most Apps we got here are most likely for Hive people. There is no App outside afaik which brings normal mobil user to Hive.
