Great times for cycling enthusiasts with the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow!
I really enjoyed the road race with Mathieu van der Poel winning this bizarre 271 kilometer race despite falling in the final.

I hadn't heard van der Poel having used the bathroom in a house along the route. That homeowner must have been very surprised 😃
Also cool to see a small country as the Netherlands among the big countries in the ranking. And the ladies haven't even started yet.
The Dutchies are doing quite well on two wheels. Track cyclist Harry Lavreysen became World Champion for the fifth time in a row in the sprint final. A very cool discipline to watch.
I'm disappointed to hear the UCI Cycling World Championships of 2028 will be organized in Abu Dahbi and the gravel World Championships in Saudi Arabia. These aren't countries where cycling lives and the environment is also not suitable for it.
But the big money wins again at the expense of the sport.

You forgot that we Belgians already have 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals too. That’s not bad either, and it won’t stop there, the road race for the ladies is still due, and tomorrow the men’s time trial, where I expect 2 medals for Remco and Wout. Hopefully a golden one is among it! 😉

The racing has been awesome in Glasgow and you are right the team for the Netherlands is doing really well. I hope the Australian team can get one or two gold, the have been a little unlucky but there is still a lot more racing to go.
