Hi everyone.
Am thrilled to finally be here and writing my introductory post. My name is @splitpin. A name given to me by a lifelong friend when we were in the army together - @cryptoandCoffee. Barely any hair under my arms, but in the muck with thousands of other young South Africans doing our National Service. Have watched him over the years always talk enthusiastically about HIVE and my interest in understanding or should I say lack of understanding about crypto and the block chain. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank @meesterboom for organising my account so rapidly. Thank you. Appreciate. Couple of pics below in tribute to you sir. Worked for the local craft brewery and they needed some images for their website.

A little about me. My first couple of decades out of school I was lucky enough to work in the graphic design and advertising industry. I saw trades die away and the digital world take over. The old make-up tables give way to computers and the direct to film then to plate . Then of course the demise of camera film. (We don't talk about that). I developed a love for typeography, retouching or image manipulation, and the importance of precision, detail and visual communication has never been skills that I have regretted learning - the old and hard ways.
Leaving the print industry to go and study photography was also a wonderful experience - as I had mastered what to do with an image, but now I could travel anywhere, see the world through a camera lens, understand and work to manipulate light. A new and incredible world. I could create frozen, stolen moments, cherish the stories and revisit memories and times through images.
With Graphic Design and photography as my core love, I have again been lucky enough to travel and work throughout South Africa and a fair amount of Africa.
Spent some time photographing hospitality accommodation and tourism industry and all things related. Hospitality is a helluva industry, but truely enjoyed working with people.

Spare time may be minimal but as a designer I love working with my hands - working with wood and of course you'll always find me outside in the garden, or cruising around on the the computer. Living in this era of abundant information, there is a never ending supply of just plain NEW and amazing. What incredible times.
What drew me to HIVE is how my friend thoroughly enjoyed the sense of community and I look forward to sharing and collaborating without boundries. I think also that I am excited to find out more the blockchain world, there is so much to absorb in this ever-changing environment. As an avid DIY'er, I guess the whole decentralization concept resonates with me by taking ownership of work and then the sharing of it.
Having spent a couple of days wondering around some of the communities here - I am looking forward to posting a range of content, from photography to design and DIY and restoration to current events and everyday events. Quite frankly there is so much inspiration already available within HIVE, the ideas are already flowing.
So once again, here's to new beginnings, shared information and exploration. I am excited to discover your stories and hopefully contribute in a meaningful way. Glad to be here.
Loved reading your intro, especially the bit about going from the print world into photography — that shift from “what to do with an image” to learning light and frozen moments really came through. Your background in typography, retouching, and visual communication sounds like it’ll fit beautifully here, especially if you end up sharing some of that craft-brewery work or photo stories. Since you mentioned being new to crypto and the blockchain, hivestats.io could be handy for keeping an eye on your account growth and HP as you settle in. What kind of photography do you enjoy most these days: people, landscapes, or more of that branded/commercial work?

Many many thanks. That is one thing I am not short of is tons of questions.
Just as a heads up, any comment that isn't voted over $0.02 gets zeroed out, and it's usually frowned upon to vote for yourself.
I would conserve your votes for posts or comments that have already passed that threshold so you can build your HP faster. 🙂
Thanks for the heads up. Wasn't intended. First day finger problems.
