Learning to Work With Less

「 Just as dark as the weather 」

With my laptop having an issue, my work flow significantly reduced to 70% and while waiting for it to get repaired, life must go on!

Last night, I thought I would still be able to teach with my laptop but apparently, the noise was annoying enough for my students to concentrate. So, I had to switch to some devices I have, like my tablet.

I am not really a fan of working from such a small screen, let alone having no ability to use a mouse on it or maybe I am just not used to it. So, I did the best I could, teaching with whatever I have and while it wasn’t so ideal, I could still teach which is the main point.

Using my tablet full time, I could never comprehend why people only rely on this one. I am a hardcore notebook/pc user and I am doubtful that a tablet can be as powerful as a PC/notebook.

So, maybe in a week or so, I could do this review of like, I tried working with Tablet for 7 days and here’s…. My review on it.

But once I need to work with an enterprise, I need to use a full-on microsoft environment which I can only use on my tablet.

For the most part, I see no issue if my clients and the people I deal with are Gen Z but I’d have an issue if my clients are above 50’s. They typically use microsoft environment and are less technology literate or willing to explore other options than the Gen Z counterparts.

I think that Tablet is great for very minimal work and light work but it’s not that great if you’re working for an enterprise, you’d still need a powerful laptop. Here’s to hoping that my laptop is fine and I could work once again properly.

I heard that there is a mouse that we can purchase even for our tablet. So, I am looking forward to add that addition to make sure my work can be quite seamless and similar to working from a laptop, maybe like an emergency cases like this it won’t really disrupt my work flow by a lot and just slightly reducing it.

At the same time, I really had to open my boxes from my previous move because I need to find OTG converter. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any and in the end, well... I simply had to purchase it which seems like a more reasonable way to solve my current problem.

Actually, I was writing this to notice the difference between working from my laptop vs my tablet. In the end, I think I solved my problem partially. I purchased a bluetooth enabled mouse along with an OTG just in case I needed in the future.

I never know what will happen to this mouse I recently purchased because historically, they do not last for more than a year. But who knows, right?

At the store, I also asked them if they receive laptop repairs and they said they can. So, I am going to send them for cleaning as soon as possible and have them repaired/replaced so that it's good as new. After all, I need to start thinking about buying a new one because it's already its time for an upgrade, not a downgrade.
