When you can't rely on your coffee shipment.......
The other day, I was expecting my shipment of fresh coffee to arrive but as the title suggest, it was late. When I tried to have a productive day without a drop of caffeine, I knew it would be an unmotivating day.

The thing is, I need not only a place where I can have coffee but also sit down while teaching my students from afternoon to almost 9 PM. There is certainly a cons teaching from a cafe but I found a reliable place called Arah Coffee, a well-established franchise with no frills. Their cafe feels like a giant box of freezer for to keep things fresh for a long time and I was apparently one of the things. I kid you not, there are more than 7 AC in such a small room, all blasted the entire day 24/7. I am not really sure what their deal is but it's a walk-in freezer that will serve you coffee.
Anyway, when I was there, I tried to make the best of it for cheap. I conducted 4 of my classes there without any internet problem. The internet in that cafe is the fastest in town hovering around 300mbps. All I need was to pay 2.5 for the big size Americano and lounge for hours (no shame). I mean, I am a regular and bring my friends there so in my broque days, that should be justified that I only spend that much 😂

I ended up going back home at around 9 PM after my last class. Typically working from this cafe made me extremely tired once I go back home. However, I felt insanely productive because I finished many tasks in that walk-in freezer. Sometimes I wonder if I am not meant to live in tropics due to my love of cold weather 🤣 and anything insanely cold.
For my other class, I also asked them a question. " Have you ever thought about adjusting the work situation based on our tropical climate? Say a nap for 1-2 during the day when the heat is at its highest?"
That was quite intriguing question for them because they never think about how environment should actually shape our decision. Where I live, we based a lot of our design, system thinking to western standard in which some things aren't particularly helpful. At the end of the day, my classes aren't only teaching language but also to teach them critical thinking skills and question the norms.
And I am still patiently waiting for my coffee shipment :')

Years ago, i used to stop for breakfast at a small chain restaurant on my way to the office. I would pull out my laptop and do small tasks over coffee while waiting for food to come. Sometimes would work while eating. The coffee was nothing to brag about. Probably bad really, but it would wake me up. :)
@coinjoe I miss the time where cafe serves proper breakfast. These days, they don't do it anymore over here and I miss it. Now that my coffee shipment is here, I am happy 😂
I really enjoyed reading your story! 😂 Arah Coffee sounds like the perfect place to stay productive, especially with its super-fast internet and freezing atmosphere! It's amazing how you managed to finish four classes and accomplish so many tasks despite the delayed coffee shipment. Keep grinding😍
Wow, so glad to know that the cafe has the fastest internet connection in town! That's a big help to your online teaching mission.
