Weekend Reset: Coffee, Studying, & Family | March's Diary

Weekend lately...

Sometimes it’s funny how life works. I used to be so caught up by age & time when achieving something. Now, after learning about time in philosophy & science, those cultural arbitrary numbers don’t mean a thing anymore. But, I am not going to lie, the life that I have now, where I can study at my own pace, have coffee on the weekend and rekindle my relationship with my nuclear family was something I wanted to have. Sometimes, I had this in mind, if I could go back a decade ago..... but then, I remember there’s no stopping me to achieve all that I want even today. Rather than wishing and having such wishful thinking, I just do it.

My weekend has been quite fun. I spent time playing games, studying, or sometimes just going out trying a new coffee that I haven’t tried before or sometimes I cook and make a coffee creation like the strawberry latte that I am currently having as I am writing this.

On weekends, I am also making a rule to clean my space and making an effort to make them cleaner because on the weekdays, I am often quite too busy to have time to do chores. So, the weekend is always a perfect time to do that and sometimes I made a few improvements in my tiny room by decluttering items that I no longer use. For almost 8 years, I have collected a lot of things that sometimes it’s hard to abide by my 200 rules. I used to count every item that I owned but now, it gets a little overwhelming and I’ve only decided to give them away.

One Specialty Coffee, every weekend

This weekend, I visited a favorite spot of mine, the specialty coffee where I can explore different beans. There’s always something new each visit and it has been quite an interesting journey. Today, instead of filtered coffee, I rewarded myself with a latte. They are called magic, in which customers can choose the bean and they will make cappuccino based on the chosen beans. I ended up choosing this classic/typical coffee that is available at most cafes. It’s coffee from Gayo, Aceh. However, what makes the serving unique was that they also added cookie crumbs into it. Their latte art was also beautiful which makes it a heavenly cup. The coffee tastes creamy with chocolatey after taste.

Studying and finding new things to improve

Inside the place, I was checking out my studying progress and stumbled upon a new course for a cybersecurity program. It’s a course from CISCO and their certification is quite important to get when you want to enter the field, especially in most enterprises over here. CISCO as a company issued some certification that if you have them, it could boost your credibility and potential earning too. I did a knowledge test and while I am not a complete beginner, I still did pretty poorly on this before the course haha. I’ll definitely improve soon.

Family

On my way back, I called my parents. My adoptive dad has been improving and it has been something I was happy to see. I don’t really wish him to go back to hospital or be in a critical condition again. He was also treated mentally and it has been helping with the sleeping problems & the tantrums; now he’s in a much better condition. But he’s still going back and forth to the hospital which isn’t always cheap. His illness taught me to be grateful that even the smallest thing like breathing is important. Often, we overlook these things but wait until you see how much oxygen costs in a day and even more so a week. It's terrifying and that’s why, it opens up my eyes that the self-love we can do is by living a healthier life.

This is why these days weekends are non-negotiable to me. It’s the day where I can do anything I want and I don’t want to be disturbed unless I decide to. It’s the day where I can do reflection, cleaning, and refresh my mind before starting the week and getting caught up with the humdrum of life once again. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you for checking this out :) I appreciate it.

Good morning Mac. Good to see things are getting back on track for you. It seems that when we get things straight, life flows easier. I'm glad your foster dad is doing well, and it's true that having health is not something we consciously appreciate, when it's one of the most important things in life.

Good that you are doing your coffee shop tour, pampering yourself always lifts your spirits.

Thanks for posting on Daily Blog, have a great week ❤️!

It's unfortunate when we don't appreciate health consciously. It's one of the thing that truly matters in our life.

I’ll definitely improve soon.

Yes you will! Good luck with that cybersecurity course. I'm also doing some self-studying lately for a career shift. And I remember you posted like a list of remote job websites some years ago lol, I know it's been a while! I actually bookmarked some of those but lost it. This particular link that I'm looking for is like a tech remote jobs page with colorful banners and flashing links. I hope you can share it here in the comments, I will really appreciate it!

And good luck again! :)

hahaha I forgot about that part, I'll have to find it and get back to you ASAP

I tried digging into your old posts but you just have too many! Haha. Thank you so much I appreciate it! :)
