LEARNING GRAPHIC ARTS AND ENGRAVING [ENG/ESP]
Hello HIVE, I hope you are all doing well learning new creative skills.
Hola HIVE espero que todos se encuentren muy bien aprendiendo nuevas habilidades creativas.
At the university of arts there is a specialty called "Graphic Arts" that includes everything related to engraving, woodcut, silkscreen, among other disciplines used for printing; this week I spent some time in the graphic arts workshop learning a little about everything related to that specialty, I helped some friends with the printing of their reproductions for an end-of-semester delivery.
En la universidad de artes existe una especialidad que se llama "Artes Gráficas" y comprende todo lo relacionado al grabado, la xilografía, serigrafia, entre otras diciplinas que se usan para estampar; esta semana estuve un rato en el taller de grafica aprendiendo un poco de todo lo relacionado con esa especialidad, ayudé a algunos amigos con la impresión de sus reproducciones para una entrega de final de semestre.
I had the opportunity to learn how to apply two colors at the same time in a print with the same matrix, (the matrix is the carved base piece used to make the engraving) I was also able to appreciate the process of shading the ink and preparing it for printing.
Tuve la oportunidad de aprender a aplicar dos colores al mismo tiempo en una impresión con la misma matriz, (la matriz es la pieza tallada base que se usa para hacer el grabado) también pude apreciar el proceso para matizar la tinta y prepararla para la impresión.
Graphic design is a very strict and meticulous discipline, requiring a lot of precision and commitment so that all prints are identical and very clean, which is why it is necessary to keep the work area and all the instruments used for this task constantly clean.
La grafica es una diciplina muy estricta y minuciosa, requiere de mucha precisión y compromiso para que todas las impresiones resulten idénticas y muy limpias, por eso es necesario mantener la zona de trabajo limpia constantemente y todos los instrumentos que se usan para esa labor.
I really love this specialty. I will continue to explore all these disciplines in order to continue growing in my artistic career. The next thing I want to practice is screen printing, since I plan to create a personal brand with which I will distribute printed shirts with my original designs using this screen printing technique. I am happier every day since I decided to study art. I hope you like this post, good vibes.
De verdad que esta especialidad me fascina, voy a seguir indagando en todas estas diciplinas para poder ir creciendo en mi carrera artística, lo próximo que quiero practicar es la serigrafia, ya que tengo pensado crear una marca personal con la que distribuiré franelas estampadas con mis diseños originales usando esa técnica de serigrafia; cada día soy más feliz desde que decidí estudiar el arte.
