Stay Healthy - the power of homemade tea and honey

in Daily Blog28 days ago (edited)

I was sick for an entire week and couldn't write anything. It started with a cold, and then I got a fever and a terrible headache. All I could do was lie down and hope that I would feel better soon. The days seemed long, and I just wanted everything to go away.
My mother came to visit me and brought me homemade tea and fresh fruit. Her care and the home remedies were a big comfort during this time. Her tea is just awesome, especially because I’m not a big fan of tea, but this homemade tea, I can drink all day. I am really thankful for my mother and her help.

Home remedies can be very helpful when you have a cold. I don't have a tub at home for a relaxing bath or a sauna to clear my sinuses. The only option I had was to make chamomile tea and put a towel over my head and inhale the steam. Now, after a week, I am feeling much better. The fever and headache are gone, but I still have a bit of a cough. Even though I’m not completely well yet, I can finally get back to my usual activities.

I know everyone knows how to treat a cold, but here are some simple tips on how to do this at home. Maybe someone out there still needs some advice.
Treating a cold can be simple and done with a few basic steps. Here’s how you can take care of yourself if you have a cold:

First rule, rest! Your body needs energy to fight off the cold, so take it easy and get plenty of sleep. Drinking lots of fluids like water or herbal tea is very important, and adding some honey or lemon to tea is also good.

Because I couldn’t eat much, there was always the option to eat some warm soup. Actually, this is the only food I could eat. Oh, I need to see how much weight I lost this week, eating only soup and drinking tea 😂.

Inhaling steam is also something that can help. You can do this by taking a hot shower or by boiling water, adding chamomile tea, putting it in a bowl, covering your head with a towel, and inhaling the steam. After 10 minutes, everything flowed out of me, but it helps! It helped me feel a bit better and made it easier to breathe.

this also helps a lot!

Apparently, gargling warm salt water can soothe a sore throat. Mix about half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and gargle several times a day. I tried it, but it’s not good for me, I just hate the taste.

Keep yourself warm and comfortable, and use blankets to stay cozy. Of course, I had to change my clothes at least 10 times a day because I was sweating so much and the blankets were also completely wet, but since I'm obsessed with buying different blankets, I have a lot of them at home, and that's not a problem for me.😂

Don’t forget, eating fruits can provide vitamins and nutrients to help your body recover, especially oranges. We all need Vitamin C!

By following these steps, you can help your body recover from a cold more quickly. But if your symptoms are worsening, it’s a good idea to see a doctor.

In conclusion, being sick is never fun, but home remedies can make a big difference!
Of course, now that I'm not sick anymore and I'm ready to do some outdoor activities, it's pouring rain. But now I have time to finally finish reading my book. Stay healthy! 💪

You're right, homemade teas with honey, especially from acacia berries, have always helped me with the heat.
For my throat and nose, I find grated ginger tea the most helpful.

I never tried acacia berries tea. 🤔 I'm not sure exactly which herbs my mother used to make this tea, and I'd rather not even know because I'm really not a fan of herbal teas. But when I'm sick and I know they help, I drink them. But ginger? No way, the taste is just awful. 😂

The only option I had was to make chamomile tea and put a towel over my head and inhale the steam.

This is always my mum's recipe for combating cold. I never really liked it, but she always tells me to do it when I get a cold.

It is nice to find out it's a recipe for someone else too.

Mom always knows best. :) I also don't like it, and after 10 minutes of inhaling, I'm going crazy, but it helps a lot.

I know right.

Yes, it really does help.
