Returning to teaching after a seven-year break, I found myself in a fundamentally new environment. This is due both to organisational moments, when distance learning from the exception became everyday life, and to the approaches to gaining knowledge by my students. And of course, the first place here is occupied by artificial intelligence. I'm not talking about the fact that it can fulfil the functions of a teacher. Maybe someday it will be like that, but definitely not now. I'm talking about students using artificial intelligence as a source of information.
Is it good or bad? Right or wrong? I'll answer like this: having a microwave in your kitchen arsenal, you won't cook food on a fire. But you have to follow the operating rules. Moreover, I believe that someone who knows how to handle artificial intelligence will have advantages in the labour market.
But the key word here is "able to". I noticed that students are often left alone with this. We teach them a lot of things, give a lot of information, but we pay little attention to new tools that they can use to obtain and process information. They still use them, but without the right algorithm, the result is often deplorable.
Although it is not part of my discipline, I started doing it. Of course, over time, the system will be rebuilt and I am sure that there will be a special short course for this. But for now, I'm learning by myself and sharing information with my students.
