Everyone has a hobby of keeping a collection of some things, and some like shoes and some like that. I like keeping a collection of watches very much because a watch reflects your personality. It will always give you a silent ringing sound, which will set the movement for every time. Time will always remind you of all the things on which you have worked; that is why I have always bought a watch for this, and I like buying and wearing watches very much. More than smartwatches, I like classic watches like Casios or those made by big companies.
I still remember buying my first watch when I was very young. I've always loved watches because of their distinctive colors and unique unit designs. Whenever I went on a WhatsApp call, I felt like I was the watch itself. The first watch I ever bought was a Titan, an automatic watch, and it was absolutely beautiful. It was blue -colored and so beautiful. It was somewhat expensive, but I was always so set on buying it. My dad bought it. I still remember that watch to this day. I've replaced the battery a couple of times, but it's still working. It's been seven years since it was bought. But I've never given it back to him. The glass never broke; only the battery ran out, which I had to replace. Nothing else has been damaged, just a few scratches on the sides. However, I always recall with deep emotion how exquisite that initial watch was.
Watchmaking, and creating a particularly good watch, or a classic watch, isn't like making a toy. It's very particular, and a lot of theory goes into making a watch. Each watch has its own unique mechanism, and each watch possesses its own unique magic. You can identify a person by their watch. If someone wears a smartwatch, it means they're a person with a knack for technology. Or if they wear a classic, rich watch, it means they're a businessman. Watchmaking is a very difficult task. I'm saying this because I once saw a Rolex watch being made. I saw it in a video, but making and assembling it is extremely difficult. That's why a Rolex watch sells for a very high price, which is why it's said that it's a very desirable watch.
Whenever I go somewhere, everyone asks me the same question: why do you wear normal, old watches in this age of smartwatches? My only answer is that they remind me of all those valuable times. When I had nothing, I bought this watch in digital form. Then I understand how a watch reminds you of so many timeless things, and all these things you remember later, and all these things become memories. A watch isn't just for showing you the time. It also takes you back to the moment when you bought it. No other watch can give you that feeling. No smartwatch can. Even if the watch costs 200 or 300 rupees, you'll know where it came from, how much you bought it for, and how much happiness you spent that time with it.
Gradually, as I grew up, collecting watches became a passion for me. Over time, I saved small amounts of money everywhere and kept a watch on my mind. I still remember being overjoyed when I bought a very expensive Casio watch for 15,000 rupees. Then I bought a Fossil watch for 12,000 rupees. These things became incredibly interesting to me because of the mechanism in them. Why are they so expensive? Others ask, "What are you going to do with such an expensive watch? It only shows the time." But I say, "I see what I'm looking for. I went to such great lengths to buy these watches. I'll never forget how I used all my savings to buy each watch. I see myself in each watch. That's the whole story, and the chapters that watch reflect on you."
You must have noticed that every big name, even among the world's top 10 richest people, has one important thing: expensive watches. And why are they crazy about this? Is a watch really an investment? Imagine you buy a Rolex watch today for 1 million rupees, and five years later, its price drops to 60 to 70 million rupees. This is because Rolex always produces limited edition watches, which is why their demand in the market is always high. You'll learn all this later. When you buy a watch and keep it for a few days, and its price increases, you realize that it can also be an investment. Billionaires today are aware of this. That's why they buy as many watches as possible. That's why you've seen people wearing watches worth 45-50 crore rupees.
Finally, I'll say I don't know the answer about others. Everyone has loved watches for a long time, but no one has loved them as much as I do. I love buying, wearing, and keeping every watch, and it reflects on me. I love watches the most because I know everything about them. I once watched a watch being made at my place. I saw how difficult it was, because making a watch is a very, very difficult task. If you move even one of the major parts, the entire watch will be ruined. That's when I realized why Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet are so expensive. The reason these people keep their watches so precious is because they have that mechanism, that quality, that material that they find so expensive, and that unique feel that makes them limited editions.
