Experiencing Architecture - How some of my works influence individuals...

in Architecture+Design3 years ago (edited)

I was always attracted to architecture. Highrises, Villas, Landscapes always seemed fascinating and before becoming a professional architect, I used to observe smaller things related to architecture. Well, when I started my journey I came to know more details about the architecture and also changed my perspective of seeing things like I used to do before. Not only every single element attached to me a lot but also slowly I fall in love with a specific part of the architecture.

Architecture is a vast subject and not limited to the boundaries of a book. What we are seeing, experiencing everything has an effect on us physically, psychologically, and emotionally. Nature always inspires us and provides enormous examples of form, shapes, and colors. When an architect starts to design a space, first he observes the surroundings of the specific space because that surrounding context will influence his entire design and will help him to create an initial context. Later comes forms, texture, culture, ambiance, functions, and so on.

I prefer interior and landscape designs more than exterior, basically, that's my personal choice and I prefer to work on residential projects rather than commercial. Most of my works based on cultural context, client demands, and locations. I believe I work for humans and my job is to help to fulfill someone's dream comes true...

When you start designing a space or start decorating your own home, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Obviously answer will be different but all the related to the design and based on your perspective and experience. Sometimes an existing design might influence your taste and will help to enhance your dream project. Comfort is the first priority by providing functional spaces. A functional space requires a comfort zone because you will be attached to space emotionally and psychologically and your first priority will be to listen to the heart and have to listen to your client's word (if you are an architect).

In my opinion color, texture, elements come later and for me, they are known as finished material which influences human psychology a lot. Some love the rough texture, some love smooth texture materials and it depends on the taste and aesthetic perspective as well. Visualization and perception play an important role in this area. That's why I guess when I was a first-year student, I had to learn composition. Then I had to finish projects based on understanding colors, materials, and textures.

I am going to share some of my interior work which will give you a better idea of my explanation.

Before starting any kind of design, I always try to understand the space and do case studies so that I can create a clear concept in my mind. This is a study room that I have designed for a Bangladeshi Client. I have created two options for her so that she can get a clear idea of what was my theme and the placement of furniture, elements, and colors. Cool tones and warm tones matter a lot and you can see that space is the same but different colors changed the entire vibes, ambiance. Also, Some colors are reflective and act according to light shades so texture and colors not only effects visualization but also put an impact psychologically.

Obviously, this is a study room, so you need a clear mind to do study or work so I have chosen one green color surface as option 1 and one off-white color surface as option two. Also, I have chosen specific light wood with a simple texture which is not too much but will be perfect for one of the surfaces of the room.

There was a mistake that I have done in option 1 which is using black color cabinets. As it was a preliminary design so I changed it later and put light green instead of black. I have focused on each surface because I believe every surface matters. When you enter a room, you will observe everything and will create a visualization that will effects your mood too. I haven't used any harsh tone like red, dark blue, or brown because I believe the study zone should be calm, quiet and colors will give peace instead of harshness.

This dinette area theme was completely different from formal dining design because this was a private playful, festive-looking space where my client wanted to spend quality time with family and having food. So here, I have used totally blue colorful surface which almost looked like an oil painting and another surface was rustic white materials which indicates food preparation space. Blue sometimes creates a sad ambiance but if you use it properly, it can provide happy joyous vibes.

The bedroom is a private space and it has to be according to the taste. Some go for a monochrome theme, some love colors but most of the master bedroom requires light colors, textures, and a proper lighting system.

The client of this project was a student and she wanted a fascinating bold surface for herself. I created two options for her and changed the colors, materials, and texture as well to show two different vibes...

So, you see every element's effect on human psychology, you are not experiencing these spaces physically, and still, you are understanding the quality of the space-based on color, texture, accessories of the spaces.

Using appropriate lights, natural light also change the ambience of the entire space and in the end, comfort, happiness, emotions and function matters...

Last but not least, fresh plants or flowers will always put impacts on human psychology. So choose wisely...

Thank you so much for your humble words, it means a lot to me, honestly speaking I was so attached to the architecture but now I don't practice anymore because of migration but hopefully, soon I will establish my own business based on architecture and real estate...

I started studying a career ... and some time ago I realized that I began to call my attention to architecture and design as you show in your pictures, unfortunately in my country to do that is complicated but I do not rule it out in the near future. I really liked your post, especially knowing what you do from your perspective and experience as an architect, imagining if I could do that too.

Nothing is impossible if you believe in yourself, you just need to wait for the right time and opportunities. Thank you so much for stopping by :)
