Greetings friends of Hive and the Architecture+Design community, I hope you are very well. I have something different to show and this time I present a health center, I had never published about one but I want to show you the design of the Santa Lucia Ophthalmology Clinic, a specialized center that pays attention to everything related to eye health and is in the Poblado area, here in Medellin, Colombia. In this clinic is where they treat the visual health of my brother @alandesign, he has an eye problem called ocular hypertension and for a year in this clinic he has been seen by two doctors, one is a pediatric ophthalmologist and the other is an ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma. Several times I have accompanied my mom @parauri to my brother's medical consultations and I have taken some pictures of the Santa Lucia Clinic so that you can appreciate this architectural construction with an avant-garde design.
Saludos amigos de Hive y de la comunidad Architecture+Design, deseo que estén muy bien. Tengo algo diferente que mostrar y es que en esta ocasión les presento un centro de salud, nunca había publicado sobre uno pero es que les quiero mostrar el diseño de la Clínica de Oftalmología Santa Lucía, un centro especializado que presta atención a todo lo relacionado con la salud de los ojos y que está en la zona el Poblado, aquí en Medellín, Colombia. En esta clínica es donde tratan la salud visual de mi hermano @alandesign, el tiene un problema en los ojos que se llama hipertensión ocular y desde hace un año en esta clínica lo ven dos doctoras una es oftalmólogo pediatra y la otra es una oftalmólogo especialista en glaucoma. Ya varias veces he acompañado a mi mamá @parauri a las consultas medicas de mi hermano y he tomado unas fotos de la Clínica Santa Lucía para que aprecien esta construcción arquitectónica con un diseño vanguardista.
The clinic has two buildings that are divided into four blocks where the areas or departments of the services provided by the clinic are located. First here is building 1, which is the main building and as you can see it looks like titanium because of its metallic appearance with that material for its silver-colored cladding. The main building is divided into three blocks, out of the four that the clinic has. In this building, which is the largest, there are block 1-A, block 1-B and block 1-C. Block 1-A is the first entrance to the services of Clínica de Oftalmología Santa Lucía.
La clínica tiene dos edificios que se dividen en cuatro bloques en los que se encuentran las áreas o departamentos de los servicios que presta la clínica. En primer lugar aquí está el edificio 1, que es el principal y como pueden ver parece de titanio por su apariencia metálica con ese material para su revestimiento de color plateado. El edificio principal se divide en tres bloques, de los cuatro que tiene la clínica. En este edificio que es el más grande, están el bloque 1-A, bloque 1-B y bloque 1-C. El bloque 1-A es la primera entrada a los servicios de la Clínica de Oftalmología Santa Lucía.
The design is so modern that it does not look like a clinic. The main and side facades have that metallic appearance that ends with the rear facade, the structure being just as colorful with high reinforced concrete walls.
El diseño es tan moderno que no parece una clínica. La fachada principal y lateral tienen esa apariencia metálica que termina con la fachada posterior siendo igual de vistosa la estructura con altas paredes de concreto armado.
On the back façade is block 1-B, which is called Diagnostic Aids, where studies and eye exams are performed; my brother had two studies done a few weeks ago, a tomography and another special one. Then there is block 1-C where there are also ophthalmology outpatients and administrative offices.
En la fachada posterior está el bloque 1-B que es el llamado Ayudas Diagnósticas donde se hacen los estudios y exámenes de la vista, mi hermano se hizo hace unas semanas dos estudios, una tomografía y otro también especial. Luego está el bloque 1-C donde también hay consultas externas de oftalmología y oficinas administrativas.
Block 2-A is the second building, a one-story building where other areas operate, including the pharmacy where we went to ask for the eye drops that one of the doctors prescribed for my brother.
El bloque 2-A es el segundo edificio, una construcción de un piso donde funcionan otras áreas entre ellas la farmacia donde fuimos a preguntar por las gotas oftalmológicas que le recetó una de las doctoras a mi hermano.
This clinic has strong structures, with sturdy walls, ceilings, floors, stairs and columns combined with some glass windows that allow natural lighting inside.
Esta clínica tiene estructuras fuertes, con paredes, techos, pisos, escaleras y columnas resistentes combinados con algunos ventanales de cristales que le permiten iluminación natural en su interior.
The elevator in block 1-C is made of glass and steel. I like these models of elevators because they allow a view to the outside and are an architectural element that gives more modernity to the building.
El ascensor que está en el bloque 1-C es de vidrio y acero. Me gustan estos modelos de ascensores porque permiten ver al exterior y son un elemento arquitectónico que le da más modernidad al edificio.
There are signs indicating the location of the units of the clinic services, I like it because it is a wide place where you have to know in which building and in which block is the unit that patients need. The signage directs to outpatient consultations, diagnostic aids, surgery, cafeteria, pharmacy, optician's office and administrative offices.
Hay avisos que indican la ubicación de las unidades de los servicios de la clínica, me gusta porque es un lugar amplio donde hay que saber en qué edificio y en qué bloque está la unidad que necesitan los pacientes. Las señalizaciones dirigen hacia las consultas externas, ayudas diagnósticas, cirugía, cafetería, farmacia, óptica y oficinas administrativas.
One sign caught my attention and it is this one that says that Clínica Santa Lucía respects and protects the fauna of the region. A good message for visitors to this clinic that is surrounded by vegetation and birds and squirrels come to its extensive green areas, with different trees and large gardens.
Un letrero me llamó mucho la atención y es este que dice que en la Clínica Santa Lucía se respeta y se protege la fauna de la región. Un buen mensaje para los visitantes de esta clínica que está rodeada de vegetación y llegan aves, ardillas a sus extensas áreas verdes, con distintos arboles y amplios jardines.
There are two parking lots, one for cars and one for motorcycles. The one for cars is a large area and has capacity for many well organized vehicles, I was struck by the convenience for cars to enter and exit the parking lot. The motorcycle parking area is separate from the car parking area and is smaller but also very comfortable for parking motorcycles. The preferential places for people with disabilities in the parking area are also very well identified.
Hay dos parqueaderos, uno para los carros y otro para las motos. El de los carros es un área extensa y tiene capacidad para muchos vehículos bien organizados, me llamó la atención la comodidad para que los carros entren y salgan del parqueadero. El área para parquear las motos es otra separada de los carros y es más pequeña pero también muy cómoda para estacionar las motos. También están muy bien identificados los lugares preferenciales para las personas con discapacidad en las zona de parqueo.
Speaking of care for people with reduced mobility, we already know that stairs are a problem and it goes against their rights to which Clínica de Oftalmología Santa Lucía responds by having ramps in the access areas both inside and outside the buildings.
Hablando de la atención para las personas con movilidad reducida, ya sabemos que las escalares son un problema y va en contra de sus derechos a lo que la Clínica de Oftalmología Santa Lucía da respuesta teniendo rampas en las áreas de acceso tanto dentro y fuera de los edificios.
Inside the clinic there is a cab service area, called Coopebombas. I like their blue sign :D
Dentro de la clínica hay una zona de servicio de taxis, llamada Coopebombas. Me gusta su letrero azul :D
You saw that outside the clinic the floor is mostly concrete tiles very resistant and suitable for outdoor environments. But I noticed that in some parts there is sinking and I imagine that this must have the maintenance staff of the clinic alert because it is a fault in the ground.
Vieron que en el exterior de la clínica el piso es en su mayoría con unas baldosas de concreto muy resistentes y adecuadas para ambientes exteriores. Pero me di cuenta de algunos partes hay hundimientos y me imagino que esto debe tener alerta al personal encargado del mantenimiento de la clínica porque es un falla en el terreno.
Finally, the Santa Lucía Ophthalmology Clinic has a perimeter fence as part of its main facade. This fence is half iron painted in gray, combining with the building and the other half is made of stones, with an approximate height of 2 meters.
Para finalizar la Clínica de Oftalmología Santa Lucía tiene una cerca perimetral como parte de su fachada principal. Esta cerca es mitad hierro pintado en gris, combinando con el edificio y la otra mitad es de piedras, con una altura aproximada de 2 metros.
There have been several visits with my brother to this clinic where the doctors have attended him very well, here he has had several studies done, one is a tomography of the eyes and another study, all with a very careful attention.
Son varias visitas con mi hermano a esta clínica donde lo han atendido muy bien los médicos, aquí le han hecho varios estudios, una es una tomografía en los ojos y otro estudio, todo con una atención muy esmerada.

Looking at the contents as a whole, it appears that the health center has been constructed using modern architectural concepts. The garden zone has more space and makes the space feel relaxed.

Exactly my friend @madushanka this clinic is a modern construction in a very natural space, this is something I like about Medellin, which is rightly called the city of the Eternal Spring, you can see many really modern buildings, with impressive designs in the middle of a lot of vegetation.
