RE: Designing a Hurricane Proof Property In Antigua

in Architecture+Design2 years ago

Hello @seancallow. Oh wow! This special project is what we call "Disaster-Resilient Architecture". As much as you desired to play around with the exterior design, our initial proposals are sometimes forced to follow island-specific building regulations, However, that's the beauty of restrictions, isn't it? They allow us to squeeze our creative juices as Architects until we arrive at the most suitable solutions for the problems at hand. Despite the exterior shell almost resembling a fortified bunker due to its concrete enclosure, at least the interior spaces still exhibit their glamorous ambiance.

Who would dare challenge the devastating forces of nature anyway? With your hurricane-proof residential concept now finalized and intact, you and the homeowners have assured peace of mind. Wish you all the best and more power for your client presentation next week! 😊

Disaster-Resilient Architecture - I like that name. I feel sometimes my business is "Disaster-Resilient" - seems one challenge after another but Covid nearly ruined me. So glad that Phuket is recovering and business is coming back. Im super excited with this Antigua project and it has been a learning curve too. Thanks for your kind compliments and the client meeting went very well! I will share updates here as the project progresses.

Wonderful! Congrats on a successful client meeting! In today's challenging times, Disaster-Resilient Architecture looks like a strong driving force for Architects like us, most especially in hurricane-stricken locations such as Antigua. Thrilled to experience your upcoming project updates. Have fun! 😊
