Hello Architecture+Design,
This is my first post to the community. It's beautiful weather in my city today and I'm roaming around to snap some photos. When riding over Dragon Bridge, something comes into my mind : why don't I write about this impressive architecture of my city?
Da Nang has become more popular to both domestic and foreign tourists. Besides the picturesque landscapes, interesting history and cultures, delicious foods and hospitable people, the city is also considered as the most liveable city in the country. In addition, Da Nang has many designs that hold the world's record and one of them is Dragon Bridge😀
It is well-known as the city of bridges and has six bridges connecting between the city center and My Khe beach. Located in the heart of city, Dragon bridge is one of the most renowned Dragon Bridge (Cau Rong) and the longest bridge in Vietnam. The bridge was build in 2009 and officially opened in 2013.
Dragon Bridge Da Nang, which is 666 meters in length, is inaugurated last year connecting the main road with the airport and the My Khe beach in Son Tra Peninsula. The bridge is designed by ASA Lighting Design Studios with total investment of more than 1,700 billion VND. The body of the dragon is built 500 meters long, using five 1.2 meter arched steel pipes which weigh totally 1,000 tones. The six-lane bridge is illuminated by 5 thousand LED at night. Source

Body : 680 meters
Tail: 19.37 meters
Bridge’s tail is designed as a blooming lotus flower which is the national flower. The tremendous design of a dragon's body flying over the river toward the sea symbolizes the ambition of the region as well as the country to reach out and integrate with other countries form all over the world.
The spot is brought alive by bright colorful lights from bridges and high buildings and shops ảound. You can easily watch the fantastic fire and water performances during the weekend at 9 o’clock.
Standing on bridge, you will have change to see the lovely views of the city along the river 😍
The lighting design for Dragon Bridge Da Nang over Han River has recently been granted three awards, FX Design Awards 2013, Lighting Design Awards 2014 and the Engineer Excellence Award as one of the best lighting works in the world. Source
Dragon Bridge has become special symbol of the city and the great pride of local people, including me. This is my most favourite place in Da Nang to go for jog or watch the sunset.
