To talk about La Llovizna Park is to review the architectural and natural aspect of the park, which is located in the city of Puerto Ordaz, Bolivar State, Venezuela. The park began to be built in the early 60's, decades that were characterized by the planning and construction of the city, due to the number of national and foreign companies that came to exploit and process minerals. Puerto Ordaz, being an elite city due to its planning, would mean an enormous development for those who settled in the city.

While La Llovizna was born as an ecotourism project to create an entertainment space for citizens and tourists. This is how the architect Rafael Mendoza and the engineer José Antonio Gómez, were in charge of the planning and construction of the park, located in a strategic point, where nature was used as a tourist attraction in the area, and is that the park is distributed in an area of 200 hectares, The park is distributed in an area of 200 hectares, among some 30 islands, where the Caroní River flows, and of course the main attraction is the La Llovizna waterfall, named after the spray of water that one feels when you are in one of the tourist stops, appreciating the magnificent waterfall of 20 meters of waterfall.

Both Rafael Mendoza and José Antonio Gómez, took advantage of the resources or construction materials that were in the area, because previously the Macagua dam had been built, and had used stones for the retaining wall, so the excess material was used for the construction of roads, bridges, theater, benches, tourist paradores of the park La Llovizna. Thus facilitating the construction of this park, without having a major impact on its natural habitat.

On the other hand, the entrance of this park is formed by a checkpoint and parking, while the beginning of the route there is a paved road, to facilitate the entry of cars that are in operational situations of the park, such as fire vehicles, doctors and even park rangers, at the time of having a problem in the park requires the assistance of any of those positions mentioned above.

Now, inside the park, there are several buildings such as the stone theater, which serves as a space for cultural events, as well as a large number of bridges, stairways and tourist stops that connect the 30 islands in the park, all of which are mostly built with stones and some metal bridges. There are also some buildings that are used as commercial food stores, and other buildings for the establishment of park rangers, firefighters and doctors, who assist with any problem in the park.

The entire park is well designed and well structured, so that the tour is an easy process to do, and so that you can appreciate all the places in the area, from the tour through the jungle areas, passing through a stone walkway in the middle of the Caroni River, passing through an extensive botanical garden, with a large number of plant species, to reach the tourist stops, to appreciate the great waterfall, including part of what would be the great hydroelectric complex of the city.

Undoubtedly, this park was part of some of the best planning with respect to the architectural and engineering foundations, which served as a fundamental basis for creating ecotourism spaces for the enjoyment of human beings, in contact with our majestic nature.

All photographs are my own and were taken with a Canon T3i camera.

Well, I grew up visiting this park practically every day, and the truth is that it was a perfect harmony between nature and man's work. Greetings !

Beautiful park and area. I would love to walk in the park. I like that you have a little waterfall there and then there is calm water on the other side. How big is the park?

The entire park has an approximate area of 200 hectares between 30 islands connected by bridges, of course it is difficult to cover everything in one day, but if you know the most important. Greetings !

Pretty cool. Definitely a place which you can explore more often.

One of the greatest and gorgeous city in Venezuela. That's for sure. I absolutely love your post, mate. And you're right about something very important: the planification of an entire twin-city like Ciudad Guayana is. It feels good read about this kind of things.

There are some places in the park that need maintenance, because some things were already deteriorating before the pandemic, and then the pandemic happened and it was worse, but now I have heard that they have some projects for the recovery of the park as a whole. Greetings !

Thanks for the appreciation and good that you remembered those moementos. Best regards !
