Harry Potter no es un niño como los demás y eso lo sabemos. Por la cicatriz que lleva en su frente, sabemos que es el niño que logró vencer a lord Voldemort, el poderoso mago tenebroso que acechó al mundo mágico durante años y que, además, es el responsable de la muerte de sus padres. Desde entonces, Harry no tiene más remedio que vivir con sus tíos y con su insoportable primo Dudley.
Tras haber pasado una semana entera intentando soportar a su petulante tía Marge, en su cumpleaños número trece, Harry termina convirtiéndola en un enorme globo y decide huir de casa de sus tíos en el autobús noctámbulo.
Por otra parte, uno de los seguidores más fieles de lord Voldemort ha logrado escaparse de la prisión de magos Azkaban, Sirius Black, quién es conocido en el mundo mágico como un asesino en serie y el cual, parece estar dispuesto a eliminar a Harry del mapa.

No sé decirles cuántas veces he amado este libro y durante cuántos años lo he hecho. Pero creo que desde siempre esta tercera entrega ha sido mi favorita de toda la saga.
Éste libro nos permite conocer un poco más de la historia de Harry y, no sólo de él, sino también de muchos personajes que se volverán importantes con el paso del tiempo como lo son Severus Snape, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black y sus padres, Lily y James Potter.
Además de que también tener el primer vistazo al pueblo de Hogsmeade, el lugar preferido de todos los estudiantes cuando están en Hogwarts me parece increíble, fascinante y no os hacéis una idea de cuánto me gustaría estar ahí.
I can't tell you how many times I've loved this book and for how many years I've loved it. But I think this third installment has always been my favorite of the whole saga.
This book allows us to know a little more of Harry's history and, not only of him, but also of many characters that will become important as time goes by, such as Severus Snape, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black and his parents, Lily and James Potter.
Besides that also having the first glimpse of Hogsmeade village, the favorite place of all students when they are at Hogwarts seems amazing, fascinating and you have no idea how much I would like to be there.
Harry intenta por todos los medios que su tío Vernon le firme la autorización para poder visitar el pueblo junto a sus amigos; sin embargo, el altercado que se presenta junto a su tía Marge le imposibilita conseguir su cometido y, cegado por la ira, decide huir de la casa de sus tíos hacia donde lo lleve el destino realmente. Es ahí dónde Harry tiene su primer encuentro con un animal imponente, el cual comienza a acecharlo entre los arbustos.
Pero como si fuese salvado por la campana, llega el autobús noctambulo para llevarlo al caldero chorreante, lugar donde lo espera Cornelius Fudge, quien más allá de reprenderlo, se encuentra un tanto preocupado por el chico y le advierte que bajo ningún concepto debe alejarse del caldero chorreante.
Algunas semanas más tarde, Harry se encuentra con Ron y Hermione en el callejón Diagon para tomar un helado. Ahí, Hermione decide comprarse un gato, crookshanks; para que le hiciese compañía y éste odia de manera inmediata a Scabbers, la mascota de Ron la cual es una rata.
Los amigos de Harry junto a sus familias, deciden pasar algunas noches en el caldero chorreante junto al chico. La noche antes de regresar a Hogwarts, Harry logra escuchar a los padres de Ron hablar acerca del poderoso mago Sirius Black, quien ha logrado escapar de Azkaban y está decidido en ir detrás de Harry.
Harry tries by all means to get his uncle Vernon to sign the authorization to visit the town with his friends; however, the altercation that occurs with his aunt Marge makes it impossible for him to achieve his goal and, blinded by anger, he decides to flee from his aunt and uncle's house to wherever destiny really takes him. It is there where Harry has his first encounter with an imposing animal, which begins to stalk him in the bushes.
But as if saved by the bell, the night bus arrives to take him to the Leaky Cauldron, where Cornelius Fudge awaits him, who, beyond reprimanding him, is somewhat concerned about the boy and warns him that under no circumstances should he go away from the Leaky Cauldron.
A few weeks later, Harry meets Ron and Hermione in Diagon Alley for ice cream. There, Hermione decides to buy a cat, Crookshanks, to keep her company and he immediately hates Scabbers, Ron's pet rat.
Harry's friends and their families decide to spend a few nights in the Leaky Cauldron with the boy. The night before returning to Hogwarts, Harry overhears Ron's parents talking about the powerful wizard Sirius Black, who has escaped from Azkaban and is determined to go after Harry.
El regreso a Hogwarts trae muchas sorpresas, entre ellas un profesor nuevo de Defensa contra las Artes Oscuras, los abominables dementores, los cuales por alguna extraña razón comienzan a obsesionarse con Harry y; a Hagrid como nuevo profesor en la clase de cuidado de criaturas mágicas.
Estos son los tres pilares de toda la historia en sí.
La historia comienza a ponerse seria a partir de éste libro. Conocemos a un Harry que siente ira, odio y amor durante toda la lectura; aquí es dónde comprendemos que está creciendo y que ahora entiende muchas cosas que en los primeros dos libros no.
También logramos acercarnos un poco más a la historia de su familia, conocemos un poco más de Lily y de James, así como también conocemos un poco más sobre los amigos de sus padres.
Remus Lupin, el nuevo profesor de Defensa contra las Artes Oscuras es uno de mis personajes favoritos. Su carisma, la amabilidad y su instinto paternal con el cuál protege a Harry me hacen quererlo muchísimo más. Además de enseñarlo a defenderse contra los dementores. Es en éste punto de la trama dónde logramos conocer el gran potencial de Harry como mago.
The return to Hogwarts brings many surprises, among them a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, the abominable Dementors, who for some strange reason begin to obsess over Harry, and Hagrid as a new teacher in the Care of Magical Creatures class.
These are the three main pillars of the whole story itself.
The story starts to get serious from this book on. We meet a Harry who feels anger, hate and love throughout the reading; this is where we understand that he is growing up and now understands many things that he did not in the first two books.
We also get to get a little closer to his family's history, we get to know a little more about Lily and James, as well as a little more about his parents' friends.
Remus Lupin, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is one of my favorite characters. His charisma, kindness and his paternal instinct with which he protects Harry make me love him even more. Besides teaching him how to defend himself against Dementors. It is at this point in the story where we get to know Harry's great potential as a wizard.
Hagrid como profesor de cuidado de criaturas mágicas me parece perfecto e idóneo, especialmente porque no existe nadie más que ame a esas criaturas, aparte de Newt Scamander claro.
Pero creo que de todos los personajes, mi favorito de todos los tiempos siempre será Sirius Black, a pesar de que en un principio le temía. Sirius es la representación paternal para Harry y, durante todo el libro comprendemos que él siempre estuvo preocupado por Harry, aunque sus apariciones fuesen espeluznantes.
No os hacéis una idea de la cantidad de veces que quise cambiar el final de ésta tercera entrega, hacerle justicia a éste personaje, darle una oportunidad de verdad. Éste sentimiento es el que me hace odiar aún más a Peter Pettigrew.
Creo que lo que más me gusta de éste libro que es conocemos mucho más acerca del mundo mágico dentro de el que en las entregas anteriores. El giratiempo, los animales fantásticos, los dementores, la prisión de Azkaban, los hechizos, el quidditch, el mapa del merodeador y el pueblo de Hogsmeade. Además de que le damos la bienvenida a la escoba más rápida e imponente de todos los tiempos, la Saeta de Fuego y, me encanta ver a Harry disfrutarla.
El Prisionero de Azkaban es, de forma muy evidente, el abrebocas para el comienzo de la verdadera historia de Harry en el mundo mágico. Es a partir de éste libro en dónde los personajes comienzan a madurar a pasos agigantados, en dónde conoceremos la verdadera oscuridad en el mundo mágico y, creo que esa es la razón por la cuál es mi libro favorito. Es muy notable el antes y después a partir de ésta entrega.

Hagrid as the professor of magical creature care seems perfect and ideal to me, especially since there is no one else who loves those creatures, apart from Newt Scamander of course.
But I think of all the characters, my all-time favorite will always be Sirius Black, even though I feared him at first. Sirius is the paternal representation for Harry and, throughout the book we understand that he was always worried about him, even if his appearances were creepy.
You have no idea how many times I wanted to change the ending of this third installment, to do this character justice, to give him a real chance. This feeling is what makes me hate Peter Pettigrew even more.
I think what I like most about this book is that we know so much more about the magical world within it than in the previous installments. The time-turner, fantastic animals, Dementors, Azkaban prison, spells, Quidditch, the marauder's map and the town of Hogsmeade. Plus we welcome the fastest and most awesome broom of all time, the Fire Saeta and, I love to see Harry enjoying it.
The Prisoner of Azkaban is, in a very obvious way, the opener for the beginning of Harry's real story in the magical world. It is from this book where the characters begin to mature by leaps and bounds, where we get to know the true darkness in the magical world and, I think that is the reason why it is my favorite book. It is very noticeable the before and after from this installment.
If I could give it 1000 stars I would, but in the meantime, I will give it its respective five stars in my goodreads profile and, I leave this review here.

Entiendo totalmente tu frustración, es la misma que he tenido yo todas las innumerables veces que he leído el libro porque no soporto el hecho de que Pettigrew se haya salido con la suya. Por otra parte, a pesar de que amo a Snape y es mi personaje favorito, odié su actitud infantil al denunciar a Remus como licántropo, así como el hecho de que parecía querer ganar la orden de Merlín que le ofrecía el ministro, claro está que con esta acción Rowling se aseguraba de que no sospecharamos de la verdadera lealtad del personaje, sin embargo y a pesar de que siempre he preferido la historia de los libros antes que las películas, en este caso fue lo contrario, ya que me gustó más ver a Snape protegiendo a los chicos de Remus convertido en hombre lobo. ¡Disfruté muchísimo tu post! Yo también escrbí casualmente sobre este libro esta mañana.
Ciertamente la actitud de Snape en éste libro genera bastante rechazo y dista mucho del Snape que vemos en las películas. Considero que ese es el gran punto a favor para adaptación cinematográfica. A veces me gusta suponer que nada de eso ocurrió en realidad y que lograron atrapar a Pettigrew y Harry se va a vivir con Sirius 😂; pero al final perdería todo el sentido el resto de libros.
Aunque amo mucho la película de éste libro, si siento que faltó mostrar muchísimas cosas. Me hubiese gustado ver a Oliver Wood disfrutando de la victoria de la copa de Quidditch y también, de la copa de las casas en su último año de Hogwarts. Así como también poder ver a Harry entrenar con la Saeta de Fuego y no sólo verlo montar al final de la película y que se corte la escena con un fotograma de él volando. Alfonso Cuarón hizo un excelente trabajo aunque nos quedó debiendo algunas cosas 😭.

Creo que este también es mi libro favorito de la saga. Tenes razón, a partir de acá se puede sentir el cambio del paso de la niñez a la adolescencia; además de que ocurren sucesos mucho más serios y menos inocentes.
