Estoy contento porque había mucho tiempo que estaba buscando una Comunidad donde publicar las impresiones sobre los libros que he leído.
Son un ferviente lector de libros. No me interesa mayormente el género aunque tengo una cierta predilección por aquellos libros que contienen aspectos históricos como por ejemplo los de Christian Jacq relacionados con el Antiguo Egipto, los de Víctor Hugo y su imagen de Paris en el medioevo, los de Ken Follet en esa Inglaterra o mejor dicho Bretaña que mezclaba la magnificencia de sus catedrales con la miseria de su pueblo o el mismo Gabriel García Márquez con su semblanza utópica de Macondo.

I am glad because I had long been looking for a Community where to post impressions about the books I have read.
I am a fervent reader of books. I am not mostly interested in the genre although I have a certain predilection for those books that contain historical aspects as for example those of Christian Jacq related to Ancient Egypt, those of Victor Hugo and his image of Paris in the Middle Ages, those of Ken Follet in that England or rather Brittany that mixed the magnificence of its cathedrals with the misery of its people or the same Gabriel Garcia Marquez with his utopian semblance of Macondo.
Me gusta seleccionar los libros en base a sus autores, aunque a veces me llevo una ligera decepción.
En los últimos años he comenzado a leer mucho sobre la nueva generación de novelistas escandinavos, especialmente suecos, que han seguido los pasos de Peter Hoeg y de Henning Mankell por nombrar solo a los más notorios.
Sin dejar pasar por alto los clásicos del llamado "legal thriller" como John Grisham y Jeffery Deaver entre otros.
Como ven el abanico es bastante amplio.
He leído muchísimos libros a lo largo de mi vida lo cuál demuestra una sola cosa..... los años que tengo.
Bromas aparte tengo una gran biblioteca en casa con más de 500 libros, algunos en español, muchos en italiano y otros en inglés, como consecuencia de mi vagabundear por el mundo (cuando era más joven).
I like to select books based on their authors, although sometimes I am slightly disappointed.
In recent years I have started to read a lot about the new generation of > Scandinavian novelists, especially Swedish, who have followed in the footsteps of Peter Hoeg and Henning Mankell to name just the most notorious.
Not to mention the classics of the so-called "legal thriller" such as John Grisham and Jeffery Deaver among others.
As you can see the range is quite wide.
I have read a lot of books throughout my life which proves just one thing..... how old I am.
Joking aside I have a large library at home with more than 500 books, some in Spanish, many in Italian and others in English, as a consequence of my wandering around the world (when I was younger).
Hoy quiero compartir un autor y una serie de libros que continúan un éxito editorial con pocos precedentes: hablo de David Lagercrantz el novelista sueco que se encargó de continuar la serie Millenium cuyos primeros tres volúmenes había escrito Stieg Larsson y que había quedado inconclusa luego de su prematura muerte a los 54 años.
El libro se llama Lo que no te mata te hace más fuerte y es el primero de los tres que culminan esta prestigiosa saga literaria. Como ocurre con muchos libros su nombre se adpata al del país de publicación. En inglés se ha publicado como The Girl in the Spider's Web.
El secreto de Millenium fue con Larsson (y parcialmente con Lagercrantz) fue una dosis muy bien planificada de suspenso, un relato bien hilvanado, mezclando aspectos hasta ese momento poco conocidas de la sociedad sueca. Una sociedad a la que siempre hemos visto como casi "idílica" en el sentido metafórico de la expresión.
Y sin embargo autores como Larsson y Mankell han puesto en evidencia aspectos oscuros de una sociedad que ha tratado de conservar a lo largo de los años una estructura que ha comenzado a desintegrarse como en muchos otros países del mundo.
Violencia (no solo juvenil), racismo, violencia policial, y una buena dosis de corrupción entre otros.
Millenium en realidad es el nombre de una revista mensual, objetiva en sus comentarios, no aliada con el poder ni mediático ni político que va encontrando a medida que se desarrola la trama todo un submundo criminal, de intereses espurios, a veces más allá de las fronteras de su propio país.
Su lucha contra los intereses de las familias más poderosas de Suecia (inicialmente la familia Vanger) la lleva a una lucha sin cuartel en la cual están en juego no solo la sobrevivencia económica de la misa revista como también sus propias vidas.
Toda la trama gira alrededor del periodista Mikael Blomkvist y de Lisbeth Salander hacker con una infancia de abusos físicos y mentales.
Today I want to share an author and a series of books that continue a publishing success with few precedents: I am talking about David Lagercrantz, the Swedish novelist who was in charge of continuing the Millenium series whose first three volumes had been written by Stieg Larsson and that had remained unfinished after his untimely death at the age of 54.
The book is called What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger and is the first of the three that culminate this prestigious literary saga. As with many books, its name is adapted to the country of publication. In English it has been published as The Girl in the Spider's Web.
The secret of Millenium was with Larsson (and partially with Lagercrantz) was a very well planned dose of suspense, a well-woven story, mixing aspects of Swedish society until then little known. A society we have always seen as almost "idyllic" in the metaphorical sense of the expression.
And yet authors like Larsson and Mankell have brought to light dark aspects of a society that has tried to preserve over the years a structure that has begun to disintegrate as in many other countries in the world.
Violence (not only juvenile), racism, police violence, and a good dose of corruption among others.
Millenium is actually the name of a monthly magazine, objective in its comments, not allied with the media or political power, which finds as the plot develops a whole criminal underworld of spurious interests, sometimes beyond the borders of their own country.
Her struggle against the interests of the most powerful families in Sweden (initially the Vanger family) leads her to an all-out fight in which not only the economic survival of the magazine but also their own lives are at stake.
The whole plot revolves around the journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the hacker Lisbeth Salander with a childhood of physical and mental abuse.
David Lagercrantz es, como el mismo Larsson, escritor y periodista, una tendencia que parece ir en aumento en los países escandinavos.
Su primer libro fue sobre Göran Kroppel un aventurero sueco que conquistó la cima del Everest sin oxígeno.
Pero el reconocimiento como escritor le llegó con la novela Soy Zlatan una especie de biografía novelada sobre la vida del futbolista Zlatan Ibrahimović, sin lugar a dudas una de las figuras deportivas más populares de Suecia.
Personalmente no la he leído pero si he leìdo en cambio de su autoría la novela El enigma Turing inspirada en el genio matemático y precursor de la informática Alan Turing.
Después de muchos cabildeos con los herederos de Larsson fue elegido para continuar la aclamada serie Millennium, iniciada por Stieg Larsson.
Contrariamente a la desconfianza que significaba continuar con la publicación de un suceso editorial Lo que no te mata te hace más fuerte vendió más de 6 millones de libros en todo el mundo y fue traducida en más de 40 países, convirtiéndose en un bestseller internacional.
David Lagercrantz is, like Larsson himself, a writer and journalist, a trend that seems to be on the rise in Scandinavia.
His first book was about Göran Kroppel, a Swedish adventurer who conquered the summit of Everest without oxygen.
But recognition as a writer came to him with the novel I Am Zlatan a sort of novelized biography about the life of footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović, undoubtedly one of Sweden's most popular sports figures.
Personally I have not read it, but I have read his novel The Turing Enigma, inspired by the mathematical genius and precursor of computer science Alan Turing.
After much lobbying with Larsson's heirs, he was chosen to continue the acclaimed Millennium series, started by Stieg Larsson.
Contrary to the mistrust that meant continuing with the publication of a publishing success, What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger sold more than 6 million books worldwide and was translated in more than 40 countries, becoming an international bestseller.
En esta parte de la saga la revista Millenium tiene nuevos propietarios (al menos en la parte de la mayoría).
Ha sido adquirida por Harriet Vangel que ha regresado de Australia en ese exilio forzoso que hemos visto en el tercer libro de la serie escrita por Larsson.
Mikael Blomkvist ha asumido un rol secundario como periodista free lance y Lisbeth Salander ha participado en un ataque hacker que, al inicio, parace carecer de sentido y donde incluso ha puesto en peligro su propia identidad algo que no entra en sus características habituales.
Por su parte los detractores de Blomkvist han dejado de conspirar pensando que el popular y perseverante periodista, autor de tantos scops, ya es solo historia.
Todo transcurre en estos andariveles hasta que una noche, Blomkvist recibe la llamada del profesor Frans Balder, quien se identifica como investigador especializado en IA (Inteligencia Artificial) denunciando una conspiración contra el servicio de inteligencia norteamericano en el cuál están implicadas figuras de la política sueca.
Esta noticia despierta en Blomkvist la vena periodística informativa, que parecía haber olvidado, ese periodismo de trinchera que abrazó siendo muy joven y que esperaba una noticia como esa para volver a despertarse.
Cuando llega a destino encuentra el investigador muerto y, en un rincón de la sala, su hijo, afectado por el síndrome de autismo, a quien el asesino, por desconocidas razones, había decidido de dejar vivo.
August es un niño que muestra excepcionales capacidades para el dibujo y las matemáticas. Y las mete, desde su particular perspectiva, al servicio de la investigación que conduce Blomkvist.
En esta historia se incorpora en primera persona un personaje nuevo ya mencionado en los libros anteriores: Camilla, la hermana de Lisbeth, preferida por su padrasto Zalachenko, el espía ruso que había encontrado refugio en el país nórdico luego de desertar de Rusia y a cambio de secretos de estado.
Camilla es de una belleza solo comparable a su maldad. Un odio profundo es el único nexo que une ambas hermanas.
En este nuevo escenario, entre organizaciones criminales lideradas por Camilla y hackers profesionales que ponen en dificultad el máximo sistema de seguridad de los EE. UU las dos hermanas se van de a poco acercando.
Hasta llegar al enfrentamiento final.
In this part of the saga the Millenium magazine has new owners (at least in the part of the majority).
It has been taken over by Harriet Vangel who has returned from Australia in that forced exile we have seen in the third book of the series written by Larsson.
Mikael Blomkvist has assumed a secondary role as a free lance journalist and Lisbeth Salander has participated in a hacker attack that, at the beginning, seems to be meaningless and where she has even endangered her own identity, something that is not in her usual characteristics.
For their part, Blomkvist's detractors have stopped conspiring, thinking that the popular and persevering journalist, author of so many scops, is now just history.
Everything goes on in this way until one night, Blomkvist receives a call from Professor Frans Balder, who identifies himself as a researcher specialized in AI (Artificial Intelligence) denouncing a conspiracy against the American intelligence service in which Swedish political figures are involved.
This news awakens in Blomkvist the informative journalistic vein, which he seemed to have forgotten, that trench journalism that he embraced when he was very young and that he was waiting for a news like that to wake up again.
When he arrives at his destination, he finds the investigator dead and, in a corner of the room, his son, affected by autism syndrome, whom the murderer, for unknown reasons, had decided to leave alive.
August is a child who shows exceptional drawing and mathematical abilities. And he puts them, from his particular perspective, at the service of the investigation conducted by Blomkvist.
In this story a new character already mentioned in the previous books is incorporated in the first person: Camilla, Lisbeth's sister, preferred by her stepfather Zalachenko, the Russian spy who had found refuge in the Nordic country after defecting from Russia and in exchange for state secrets.
Camilla's beauty is matched only by her evil. A deep hatred is the only link between the two sisters.
In this new scenario, between criminal organizations led by Camilla and professional hackers who put in difficulty the maximum security system of the USA, the two sisters get closer and closer.
Until the final confrontation.
Es muy diifícil para un alumno seguir las huellas del maestro. Según mi modesta opinión Lagercrantz no llega a alcanzarlo. Pero sale bastante bien parado.
Enfoca la segunda parte de la saga con un criterio diverso de Larsson aunque los participantes y la base son los mismos.
Incorpora la intriga política internacional, ausente en los libros anteriores, pero la pone al servicio de Lisbeth Salander un hacker con características porpias y definidas cuyos ideales no han cambiado demasiado.
Lagercrantz es un autor relativamente nuevo que hace parte del nuevo "noir sueco": la trama se va desarrollando lentamente, los golpes de efecto son escasos y el final es bastante previsible.
Para los que se acercan por primera vez a Millenium descubrirán un autor nuevo que reúne muchas de las características del nuevo "noir sueco": una gran cantidad de páginas, una trama lenta que se va desarrollando paulatinamente con pocos golpes de efecto y un final que surge como natural consecuencia de los acontecimientos desarrollados.
Si bien los que ya han leído las obras anteriores de Stieg Larsson en la serie Millenium (I, II y III) encontrarán varias difrencias entre la historia contada por Lagercrantz y el verdadero creador de la serie, hay que reconocer el gran esfuerzo que ha hecho éste por tratar de respetar fielmente el estilo del escritor fallecido. Es un mérito que hay que reconocerle.
It is very difficult for a student to follow in the footsteps of the master. In my humble opinion, Lagercrantz does not quite catch up. But he comes out quite well.
He approaches the second part of the saga with a different approach from Larsson although the participants and the basis are the same.
He incorporates the international political intrigue, absent in the previous books, but puts it at the service of Lisbeth Salander a hacker with porpia and defined characteristics whose ideals have not changed too much.
Lagercrantz is a relatively new author who is part of the new "Swedish noir": the plot is slow to develop, the coups are few and far between and the ending is quite predictable.
For those who approach Millenium for the first time, they will discover a new author who combines many of the characteristics of the new "Swedish noir": a large number of pages, a slow plot that develops slowly with few jolts of effect and an ending that emerges as a natural consequence of the events that unfold.
Although those who have already read Stieg Larsson's previous works in the Millennium series (I, II and III) will find several differences between the story told by Lagercrantz and the real creator of the series, we must recognize the great effort made by the latter to try to faithfully respect the style of the deceased writer. It is a merit that must be recognized.

Larsson es parte del boom de la novela negra sueca. Recomiendo encarecidamente la lectura de Henning Mankell, poseedor de un universo propio de novela negra con 10 libros.
He leído casi toda la obra de Henning Mankell, en especial la serie Wallander. Es uno de mis autores preferidos.
La figura emblemática del comisario Kurt Wallander se aleja un poco del estereotipo del policía. Humano, con problemas familiares ligados a su ex-esposa, encarna una visión nueva del común retrato del policía-detective-comisario.
No ha tenido lamentablemente muchas adaptaciones a la TV y al cine. Recuerdo haber visto algunas adaptaciones para la TV con el gran Kenneth Branagh y otras producciones con actores suecos. Pera nada más que eso.
Como dato anecdótico agrego que estaba casado con la hija de Ingmar Bergman un mito como director de cine.
De los autores escandinavos que he leìdo hasta ahora ha sido tal vez uno de los más críticos hacia la moderna sociedad sueca. Más crítico aún de Stieg Larsson. Deja entrever una sociedad tan cambiada que no la llega a entender.

Me encanta la Saga Milleniun. Pero este cuarto libro, al no ser del mismo escritor, por los lamentables motivos que todos sabemos, no me convenció demasiado y después vi su adaptación cinematográfica y tampoco quede muy contento. Me quedo con los tres primeros libros, las adaptaciones originales y por supuesto con la extraordinaria pelicula hecha por David Fincher. Rooney Mara me sigue pareciendo la mejor Lisbeth Salander, segundo lugar para Noomi Rapace y de ultimo Claire Foy que le falto una capa y espada para ser un personaje de Marvel.
En líneas generales coincido contigo @jcrodriguez y lo dejo bien en claro en mi comentario final cuando expreso:
Creo que el objetivo de crear un sucesor de Stieg Larsson por parte de los herederos terminó cuando se dieron cuenta que su estilo, muy particular, sumamente crítico para la sociedad sueca (y los grandes industriales) difícilmente iba a poder ser reproducido por otro autor. Y eligieron Lagercrantz que le aseguraba un nivel de ventas respetable.
Lagertranz no habla de monopolios de mass media ni de industriales, los llamados capitanes de la industria. En sus novelas no hay un Vanger ni un Wennerström. Pasa por lugares comunes como la mafia internacional de la ex-Rusia y los segretos del Pentágono. Temas tratados miles de veces. Ahì está la gran diferencia.
Si hay algo que rescato es la idea de tratar de mantener un estilo similar, que creo que le ha costado más que desarrollar su propio argumento.
Respecto a los intérpretes en cine y TV mi preferida es Naomi Rapace.

Me encantó esta saga, y me quedé bastante triste al no poderla continuar por obvios motivos. ¡Que desperdicio!
Sinceramente no tenía la menor idea de que alguien había continuado con el legado de Stieg, pienso que quizá podría gustarme el libro. Sin embargo, en el fondo seguiré sintiendo ese vacío de que me hubiese encantado conocer la versión original de su creador. :(
Desgraciadamente el hecho que Lagercrantz continuara su obra se debió a un hecho trágico como fue su muerte repentina cuando apenas contaba 54 años de edad.
Larsson dejó una serie de manuscritos o borradores que fueron motivo de controversia legal entre sus herederos.
Aparentemente esos manuscritos darían lugar a otros libros. En base a esos borradores es que Lagercrantz, el autor finalmente elegido, pudo escribir los tres libros restantes de la saga.
No se hasta que punto el material daba para escribir tres libros más. Nunca lo sabremos. Como, tal vez, nunca conoceremos esos manuscritos.
