I really like that perspective too. Seeing the story through Death’s narration makes everything feel more reflective and definitely weird but in a good way. And I agree with you about the portrayal of German civilians. It adds a lot of depth to the story because it shows how ordinary people were also caught up in the consequences of the war. I was born in 2000, I have read so many books about the world war but this is one book that helps understand the complexity of that time better.
