Bacem Tahu Tempe
One of the popular simple dishes in my country, this dish is very easy and simple. Simple ingredients are certainly very easy to find around you. But for those of you who live outside of Asia it might be difficult to find tempeh, I'm sure in Asian stores they have plenty of stock for tempeh. Don't be afraid to try it because tempeh is fermented yellow beans which have a delicious taste and are of course very different from tofu.
Now, this marinated tofu and tempeh often accompanied me when I was in college. This is the best stock when I'm busy even my finances are running low. Instead of you curious, let's start cooking!.
Materials Used
- 2 tempe boards
- 1 box tofu
- 7 shallots
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 3 candlenuts
- 3 cm galangal
- 2 sticks of lemongrass
- 20 grams of palm sugar (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
Cooking Steps
Cut the tofu and tempeh according to taste, here I cut the tempeh into squares and triangular tofu.
Marinate tofu and tempeh with a teaspoon of salt for up to 10 minutes
Grind the ground spices, onions and hazelnuts, until completely smooth.
Geprek galangal, and heat a pan with a little oil then sauté both.
Add ground spices and put a little water into it, cook until fragrant.
Cut the palm sugar, add the palm sugar to the pan, stir and wait a moment.
Add pieces of tempeh and tofu and cook until the water dries up or both are cooked.
Add sweet soy sauce if you like. Now, after it starts to dry, set it aside to wait for it to cool.
Can be stored in the refrigerator and lasts up to weeks. So here I fry only a few others I save.
Fry in hot oil, until brown.
Serving Suggestions
Now Tofu and tempeh bacem are ready to be enjoyed, enjoy with warm rice in your favorite bowl with sauce. Well if you are a lover of tempeh and tofu and sweet food, this is the best this time. Don't be afraid to try it, if you don't like it fried you can fry it in an airfrayer without oil or bake it. I don't think these two will be any different, they are also delicious, savory and soft on the inside.
The taste of both won't make you disappointed, accompanied by warm rice is the best food of all time. Usually I make tofu and tempeh bacem as frozen food as a substitute for side dishes at home. Well if this busy day becomes an alternative without having to bother thinking about other things.
I'm sure one of you, must do the same thing as me. Store quick meals that will be easy later to prepare without having to think about a long busy day. Haha nothing wrong right? Make something simple your way. Well, especially if you are a mother, you have to think about many things to make everything easy in your home.

We always cook too much, on purpose, so for me the easiest fast food is heating up some rice or potatoes, slicing some leftover chicken, fried tofu or other protein, and topping it all with pickled or fresh vegetables and sri racha. Best breakfast ever!
Sorry if mentioning meat offends you - I'm not a vegan, but I don't need animal protein with every meal either, so I follow the plant power post because there's are so many great recipes :)
Wow, you almost have something in common with me, cooking with large portions and heating some food. This is an easy way to serve up a quick breakfast or lunch.
I'm not vegan either, that's totally fine. But growing up with vegans is so much fun and there are so many amazing recipes from vegans. Including in my area, there are so many recipes stored!
Absolutely! As long as a dish is tasty and nutritious I don't care if the protein is chicken, chickpeas, or tofu. And since it's mostly the spices and the cooking technique that defines a dish, it's so easy to change a meat dish to vegan/vegetarian, or the other way around, depending on what's in the fridge or affordable at the grocery store that day.

Have a nice day guys!
It looks yummy. I haven't tasted tofu in my entire life yet and I'm a lil bit confused if how does it taste? I hope I can taste this very soon.
Nutritious food for a healthy body.
Is it true?
Is tofu not in your country?
I think if you don't have any restrictions on peanuts, you should try tofu which tastes delicious and definitely very nutritious!
That looks very appetising. I enjoy the way you’ve added steps with clear images for the preparation. The final presentation of the dish caught my eye while I was scrolling. Lovely work.
If I can find tempeh, I’m so definitely trying this out! Yum 😋❤️💕❤️🌱☘️
