Hey vegan lovers, how about today I invite you to make one of my unusual desserts. Sweet date balls with a thick coconut milk sauce add to the deliciousness of this special dessert.
Date Balls
Date balls are processed dates stirred with flour then cooked in thick coconut milk until cooked and thickened into a savory and delicious sauce that can be enjoyed after enjoying heavy dishes during certain events.
Well in my area, dishes like this are indeed a mainstay of our family during the fasting month like yesterday. But after the Eid celebration we usually fast again for 6 days known as Shawwal fasting. Therefore, I took the initiative to make sweet food like this date compote.
Ingredients Used
5 tablespoons sugar
400 ml thick coconut milk
150 grams tapioca flour
2 spoons of wheat flour
½ teaspoon salt
Making Procedure
Fruit the date seeds, then cut the dates into small pieces so that they are easily crushed when soaked.
Boil water until it boils then put water into the small pieces of dates soak until the dates are completely soft.
After soft, chop the dates until smooth or until it is easy to stir with flour.
Prepare the dates that have been chopped earlier then add salt, then stir with flour until evenly mixed.
After the dough can be shaped, form a large round dough according to taste. Then cut the other 5 dates to stir in the sauce.
Cook the coconut milk then add sugar and salt then add the dates.
Cook and add the date balls let the coconut milk thicken and cook completely.
Result
The date balls are ready to be served warm or cold, both are delicious. Serve in a serving bowl, for this recipe you visa get 2 to 3 servings of date balls with coconut milk sauce. The portion is very sufficient especially with the chewy texture of the balls plus the natural sweetness of the dates.
What I like the most is when the date balls are combined in coconut milk sauce with pieces of dates adding a very unique flavor. With the savory coconut milk and the distinctive and sweet aroma of dates, I really liked it.

The chewy date balls become very delicious when combined with coconut milk especially when there are pieces of dates in the fla making it even more complete. Try it and you'll love it @lizelle
It looks delicious. You got me looking for what tapioca flour is, and it turns out that here in my hometown of Apure, Venezuela, cassava is a big grower, and they produce both cassava flour and tapioca flour. But I didn't know about tapioca flour. Now I know. I'm bad in the kitchen, but I tried to follow the recipe sequence and got confused about adding the flour. The ingredients list two types of flour: tapioca and wheat, and when you add the flour, it doesn't indicate which one. I imagine it must be Google Translation, which sometimes changes the original text. Great photos./Se ve delicioso. Buenas fotos.
I add tapioca flour and wheat flour together, you can stir them together first or you can add them together, but you have to pay attention when kneading the dough so that it is easy to shape.
Thank you, very grateful for the information. Best regards/Gracias, muy agradecido por la información por la información. Saludos.

I love love love dates but I rarely eat them because here are very expensive by the way this dessert to me it's like " Super wowwwwww I want it now" really now I'm craving 😭
Well really, here dates have a variety of types and I like to buy dates of the standard type and the price is much cheaper.
Looks so yummy and easily available ingredients.
That's right, dates are so ubiquitous now, I thought turning them into a sweet dessert would be the easiest way to go.
Thanks sis for sharing the recipe. It looks delicious. Dates are also good for health.
Yeah dates can be used as a sugar substitute, the sweetness is so distinctive I love dates even without processing them.
