The scientific name of the shrub that produces the caper is Capparis spinosa. There are some plants from the Agave family, which produce a flower and you get something similar to capers. Generally the caper bush grows in temperate climates like that of Europe, except that because we, in a large part of Latin America, having been a European colony in past centuries, we have similar gastronomy to the Spanish one.
