Inuke - the terrible neighbour.

in Cross Culture13 hours ago

I am a terrible neighbour, and I am not kidding, there is evidence for it. Well, I came across the post from my long-time friend @selfhelp4trolls in the cross-culture community. About the relationship with the neighbour. And that got me thinking about all the bad neighbours I've had so far.

But honestly, most of my neighbours have actually been really good.
I had a struggling actor as a neighbour who was into fitness and had part-time job in some late-night TV shows, you know that kind that runs ads. This was back when I was in Mumbai. Then there were the Nurses (two ladies I never spoke to, just a smile when we crossed paths on the stairs and little eye contact), my roomie kinda convinced me that they were in a relationship. The sweet family, the man of the family, used to join us on Sunday morning at 0600 for a cricket match. And the lady she was so sweet that she used to offer us breakfast on those days.

But think about them for a moment, they had me for neighbour, and I bet they didn't have the same feeling for my rowdy gang members. I mean, would you smile back at the person who is climbing stairs as you are leaving for the office, and you can hear the clinking sound of the beer bottles from his backpack at 8 in the morning? And how would you feel if you had neighbours who party all night only to wake up early and invite you for a cricket match on a Sunday morning at 0600 hrs. They torture at night, and the torture continues the next day. I remember being helpful at times. There was the time when I fixed the Ceiling fan for someone, only for them to have it replaced a week later. Hey! If anything, I helped them extend their fan life for a week. I let them use my Stove because they ran out of gas.

But now when I think about it, I never really bothered to have anything to do with the neighbour beyond exchanging smiles. Growing up in a small colony on a remote Island, a neighbour is all you have. I remember the next door family (Uncle and Auntie - Being indian I dont its a default setting that you address people of you parents age as Uncle or Auntie) used to come over almost every other day for evening tea while the men talk about the politics, the women be busy in kitchen for tea and snacks to go with. But I guess everyone is busy now, and nobody has time for such. And honestly, I dont want to have people over that frequently at my place. Lets just assume that I am busy and my neighbour is busy and leave at that. I shifted to Trichy about a year ago and in that entire period I had very limited exchanges with my neighbour. It always like those small talk which you do to fill the silence when you are out in corridor and other person is already there.
“Trichy rain is very nice, naa.”
“Wow!! Its super hot today.”
“Oh!! Power tripped at your place too? Ah!!.”
“I think they delivered the Parcel to you. Sorry”

Maybe that’s how modern neighbourhoods work now. Polite smiles, shared weather updates, and the occasional misdelivered Amazon parcel. Times have changed, and so has the idea of a neighbour. From someone you’d sit down and talk with, to the person who collects your packages and borrows sugar from, to simply the person living next door.

I know I promised a financial blog, but I have been so caught up with work that I am unable to work on the research. I mean, I can spend the same amount of time doing research, but I would rather write something mundane and share it with you all. One thing I can tell is that learning finance and the stock market is fun, but its time and energy-consuming.
Before I sign off, a big thank you to IndiaUnited and the BeAwesome community for their love and support

I’ll be back with that post soon. Until then, take care.

You were drinking beer at 8 in the morning? I always knew you were a party boy

Well let's say that was me pre timeskip.
Life was very different back then. But at time I do miss that level of freedom and carelessness.

How about you? how would you treat such neighbour.?

Kuch saal pahle Se aab kafi sari chijen Badal chuki hai khaskar hamare samaj mein aur aab log aur adhik matlabi Ho chuke hain aur ye ek prakar se Sahi bhe Hai kyunki dekhiae yadi aap khud ki life mein he busy Hai to yah kafi acchi baat hai. Bahut acche logon ki aadat Hoti Hai ek dusre ki life mein interference karne ki log apni life se matlab hi rakhte hain main bhi mere ko jo bus Apne kam se kam rakhte hain aur fir edhar udhar ki baton mein Se Koi Lena Dena nahin hota hai apne office mein idhar udhar ki baten Ho jaati Hain aur ham ek dusre ki problems ko bhi dekhte hain aur kabhe kabhi solve karne ki bhi prayas karte hain per kafi kuchh badal raha hai samaj mein.
