I never witness the craze for any other festival like the festival of Chatth. Also people were quite enthusiast to make it a grand ocassion. What I observe is that even well renowned and popular festivals like of Dushera or diwali does not have the shine and charm that this festival has becoming for people. Chatth Puja is quietly taking a space in Indian custom and tradition.
The festival where devotee worship the setting sun and again next day the rising sun. And this is been done near a water front.
This festival is celebrsted on the 4th day of Shukla paksh of Kartik months. This is actually a 4 day festival where a lot of care were taken to make it auspicious as well pious. Devotee fast for 3 days and after offering argh to the rising sun, the fasting comes to and end. This is a glimpse of my village where people were eagerly waiting for this festival since begining of the month. As I said they have more importance then festival like Diwali.
Ealier this festival were co sidered as a regional festival and generally celebrated on Eastern India, but lately it has widespread acceptance to other part of country. People now know its importance and that is why, it is considered as Maha Parv or grand festival.
People from all walk of life can took part in this festival. As Lord sun bless the earth with many gifts that allow life to sustain on earth. It is considered that worshipping the Sun during this time brings prosperity at home and every family. His festival is celebrsted on the water front. Herr are the few glimpse of this festival.
The entire water front were covered with many people. All sides were full of people and each ofbthem were offering their respect to the Lord Sun. There were lot of music's, sounds system, street lighting, firecrackers and above all the faith of common people that make it a grand festival of the year.
People enjoy this festival more than any other festival and you can judge that by looking at the images, how Indians life are colorful.
