RE: Leofinance's Microblogging App Is Going To Be Huge

I think the biggest issue to solve (especially for new users) is RCs. This will probably severely limit new users from interacting as much as they want. The upside is that these users will probably only make meaningful comments while the bad side is that it might make new users quit.

One only need 50 hive power and all problems are solved. It's cheap and plenty of hive on the open market.

it might be solved by being able to delegate RC to new users

There will be some delegation but 10 HP doesnt allow one to do a lot.

If we expect the boon in users, who decides when they get a delegation, for how much and for how long. If there are like 100,000 users requesting more HP, is there enough HP left over to give users?

The problem I see is we are creating new accounts and giving them a small amount of HP to start. Active users will burn through the RCs fast and their recovery-rate will definitely not be able to keep up.

The key will be to take back the RC given to people who never use it. There are a lot who sign up and do nothing. If that HP could be recovered and then passed on to the active users, they would be able to participate more.

We will see how it all will unfold.

This is a difficult topic and it would be hard to find a good solution. e.g., when is one active/passive? how would this be done from a technical viewpoint: wouldn't the user's keys be necessary and if not, this could/will be used for exploitation etc.

If we don't know now if Hive can scale or adopt so many new users then we are probably going to fail when the time comes. I hope somebody is thinking about this problem

Delegation do not require the users keys.

It is up to the one delegating to make the decision to pull it back or not; not the user.

The RCs are a problem. We will have to see how that is solved since it is a known issue so they are on it.

But I dont know what the answer is.

We know the answer:

Buy some hive tokens. It's cheap.

That is true and apps are going to have to do that. It is what is really going to drive the demand. It isnt the users per se as much as those who are looking to attract the users.

Leofinance and 3Speak (and whatever others) are going to have to load up on HP to be able to delegate to people.

But yes, in the end, there will be many who will be buying up Hive to provide this use case.

One just needs to buy 40 hive once, power it up and never worry about RC again. The sooner the better.

Yeah for less than the cost of one transaction on Ethereum, one could have enough RCs to last a lifetime.

I think one possible bypass for now is to link the giftgiver site and let the new users request a delegation. It is only temporary but given the RC usage, it is only delaying the issue.
