RE: Why is the sign up process so ridiculously cumbersome?

Yeah I get your point completely and also agree. The development skills on Hive are far beyond what steemit had. Just like back then though, user uptake and retention should be focus. Specially since this corner of the internet is so niche. So new projects actually struggle because they're attempting to grow in a place where shrinkage of users is the reality.

One thing that must be recognized in relation to LEO is that they're expanding on what's already here. Crypto/money sighted people are naturally going to engage, specially since there is constant improvement to the Leo experience.

Whereas 3Speak, while providing video for the already here, are chasing bulk outside users with their 'censorship resistant model' so I consider that a big gamble. Which then means that the platform and user experience needs to be superior to mainstream.

The platform literally has one chance to take that traffic. The sign up and then the content that a user sees on first run. As is, sign up is a headache and content is limited. Imo, they're getting too ambitious with what they're proposing because they're again gambling that content creators are going to want to have their content and followers all migrate to an unproven platform.

What I would do is FUND WELL content creators already in the gates. Generate hype, not by shilling, but by user discussion on a potential alternative video platform. With that you coin the term "3Speaker" just the same way the term "Youtuber" became something creators aspire to be. Once you've got network effect, THEN you can come in and say "create your own token and community" because by then you already have many creators, their followers, masses as audience.. AND buzz/hype outside around "what's this 3Speak platform that's paying creators and viewers."

It's a slower but methodical approach.
Going for WOW however is hit and miss.
