Siempre hemos escuchado que debemos vivir como si fuese el último día de nuestra vida, pero también otros nos dicen que debe ser como si fuera el primero. ¿Cómo sería vivir de las dos maneras?
Supongamos que nuestro primer día de vida sea espontáneo, (es decir,) que no fue un proceso de nacimiento y crecimiento, sino que despertamos al mundo tal cual somos. ¿cuál sería nuestra reacción? ¿qué actitud tendríamos ante lo que vemos?
En ese primer día, estaríamos emocionados, curiosos, porque todo sería nuevo para nosotros. El sol, el agua, los animales; nuestro mismo cuerpo.
El poder ver, hablar, oír, tocar. Detallar el color y olor de una flor o maravillarnos ante la imponencia de una montaña o la inmensidad del cielo. Cada sorbo de agua o probar una pizza sería una experiencia nueva, fascinante.
Es nuestro primer día de vida, tenemos todo un mundo por conocer. Querríamos vivir con intensidad.
Al otro extremo, el "vivir como si fuera el último día". Para algunos es una declaración fatalista y sombría. Sin embargo, la muerte es incierta, nunca sabremos cuándo llegará. Por eso no dejemos pasar las horas en vano, expresemos, sintamos, experimentemos. En el primer día pensamos que tenemos toda una vida por delante, en el último sabemos que moriremos pronto, y nos urge vivir al 100% porque después de ese día no estaremos más.
Y he allí la importancia de decir "te amo" "perdón", "gracias"; de saborear cada momento, una conversa con nuestros amigos, caminar, o ver un amanecer. En fin, vivir intensamente (y hacer lo que nos gusta) gozar cada minuto.
Porque la vida, es un equilibrio entre vivir con la fascinación de lo nuevo y la nostalgia de lo que no estará más.
Asi que, como si fuese el primero o el último día, como sea, Vive intensamente.

And therein lies the importance of saying "I love you", "sorry", "thank you"; of savoring every moment, a conversation with our friends, a walk, or watching a sunrise. In short, to live intensely (and to do what we like), to enjoy every minute.
Because life is a balance between living with the fascination of the new and the nostalgia of what will be no more.
