Continuing from part 3, this post is about water-based transit and the memories we've made via aqua-based movement 🚣‍♂️

Boats 🚣‍♂️ Boats 🛥️ Boats ⛵

Continuing the abundance in forms of transport, boats are another vessel which we have spent some time in transit. Under the new COVID-19 world, it may eventually our best and most affordable hope of getting out of Suriname one day.

It seems our family is always in transit, or transition, and whatever it takes to get from point A to point B, we will ride it or conquer it.

Cambodian is home to largest freshwater in Southeast Asia, the Tonle Sap, although it's not technically a lake, but a river which floods seasonally, forming a body of water that is very lake-esque.

Because of this body of water, there is a rich freshwater boating culture alive in Cambodia. There are even many floating villages in Cambodia, with entire communities permanently floating, perpetually in a state of transit.

Above is a former co-worker and friend of mine, Mat Sen, piloting the boat of our boss. We used to enjoy weekend beach picnics until the business begin to disintegrate.

Mat Sen used to be a dried goods smuggler, illegally trading mushrooms and bean curd in the open sea at night with Vietnamese fishermen. He can't swim and never had a radio or life jacket at at that time, what a brave Dad.

Whether night or day, you can travel in Cambodian waters, although night navigating is done without lights or GPS, simply guide by a prayer that clouds won't block out the moonlight for too long.

As a family, we lived near the coast on a tidal river, so most of our aqua-based transportation has been in tidal rivers. In Cambodia, you can even enjoy lunch or dinner on a moving boat-staurant,

I even once had the pleasure of teaching Khmer to two Canadians who would pick me up in a boat for each class and take me back to their dock where would do a one-hour lesson. That was the coolest commute ever.

Waiting in transit with cousins at the ferry dock is just an opportunity for a group selfie. And if you're a boy with ferry captain dreams, Cambodia will not hold you back from achieving your life's ambition before you turn 18.

Monkey-B was once taken to a local waterpark by a wealthy American student of mine, and she absolutely had a blast marveling at the various forms of transportation for rent there.

Even when you don't have the opportunity for a boat ride, you can enjoy a selfie among boats with fellow Hiver @chrisinphuket.

The variety of boats is great, and the variety of operators even greater. We've experienced foul weather, but storms always pass with time, we just have to survive it. There's diversity in adversity, whether on dry land or not.

Very pleasant water trip. I can feel the challenges and happiness from your trip. Always success for you my friend.

Thank you very much @rizasukma for the kind words.

You're welcome

Beautiful living the dream ;)

Namaste 🙏

Thanks. We try @iliyan90, but over the last 6-8 months things have kind of turned into our worst nightmare. I never imagined I'd be stranded in a strange land with my family, and no way out of this situation in sight.

It's nice reliving good memories though.

I dream about exploring the world walking on a bike so enjoy it ;)

Namaste 🙏

My first time I did it myself 🚣🏽‍♀️
