Abundance.Tribe's BiWeekly Question - What Is The Meaning of a True Community?

As the Quote very rightly goes

"Community is much more than belonging to something;
It is about doing something together that makes belonging matter"
Brian Solis

As human beings we all come with different personalities and character, but when we come into one community, what matters most is the one common goal of the community. There is no Right or Wrong it is just the difference of opinion and as a community the understanding has to be there that it is just about the situation and that what serves best in that moment, action needs to be taken appropriately. Hence every member setting a wider perspective and looking at the common goal will help in making the community successful.

Ego is one factor which every member of the community needs to put it aside. Ego is of no good for the growth of the community. Difference of opinion will be there, but when Ego takes over then the community falls.

Difference of opinion is healthy if it is substantiated with supporting arguments and if there is a conclusion from it. Normally in a group conflict we will always see the ratio deferring, at first the person in difference of opinion will have more supporters and gradually that support will start getting less if healthy discussions take place. But the 1 thing that should not happen is attacking the person who has the difference of opinion rather than dealing logically with the issue.

The most important thing community members should understand is the goal and the task that has to be accomplished, if that is clear it gets relatively easier to resolve any matter.

If we are able to diagnose and understand the nature of the problem that arises in a community and come to a mutual resolution by making every person in the community feel comfortable it becomes easy to resolve the matter. As the community is all about different people it is also very important to be sensitive towards each other's emotions and not go ahead with any sort of perceptions. It is good to have a discussions involving every member, listening to everyone's point of view and coming to mutual consensus when in a community. If matters get heated it is best to give some time and let people cool down. A little bit of sense of humor can help diffuse the tension in such times. Cooperation and Resistance will always be part of any group/ community activity.

As per my views the meaning of a True Community is that every member of the community needs to follow some ethics and they are;

  • Keep matters into perspective
  • Do not get driven by emotions, understand facts
  • Take matters objectively, do not get defensive.
  • Release all personal ego from the situation
  • Respect each others views
  • If things get out of control, give a break
  • Keep the humor
  • Avoid "win-lose" outcomes. Be creative

All of this put together I truly believe makes the Community successful

Sometimes it's more difficult to work in a group than to do things yourself, but with the right tools it can be done and it's more rewarding. As somebody said: "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts".

Have a great day! 😀

I guess it depends on our own personality. I am also more of a independent person and function best on my own, but yes there are times when I need to fit myself in a community and I like it too, because there is a lot of learning also when minds come together

interesting post thank you for sharing greetings @afkar86 success always
