These days, at the end of August, while the fig trees in my garden are covered with ripe fruits and overripe figs are falling down, the males of Red admiral (Vanessa atalanta) butterflies are flying around, getting in short energetic flights and fights while protecting their territories. The healthy Red admiral in good shape is usually too quick and nimble to become a prey of my cats, but these seasonal fights over territory are exhausting, many butterflies are washed-up and at the end of their strength ...
... so the young male cat called Bembo, one of my 13 cats, sometimes brings home a butterfly ...

I thought that I'll find some hungry cat waiting for a piece of salami. But when I went there I saw Bembo and a butterfly on the cat dish on the floor, near the fridge.

... is natural to believe that the butterfly didn't make it alive out of this situation ...
... but actually - he did.
Bembo got bored pretty soon, and when I took the butterfly outside, he flew away from the palm of my hand.
Red admirals are much more resilient than I thought.
As always in these posts on HIVE, the photographs are my work.
So finally the butterfly managed to fly😝
Wild ..great shots...
My cat does the same, plays, mutilates their wings and lets them go :(
Beautiful pictures...I’m so glad the butterfly lived❤️
Me too ... and didn't really expect the happy ending.
