Hello, friends how are you doing in today's #SublimeSunday as it is been initiated by @ace108. To be honest with you, this is the second time am posting images about my culture because it's always fun during the cultural display just to keep life moving and that is why i love sharing them with you all as a family of #hive as well as gain more experience about tradition and nature, but that day was #beautifulsunday.
This culture is popularly recognized in Africa (Nigeria) from the village known as Afikpo North (Ehugbo) in Ebonyi State. The culture is majorly done during the dry season, from every ending of November to the first week of January of every year. This particular culture is highly recognized in the whole Igbo land of Nigeria as a means of uniting the people from far and nearby villages across the globe.
One funny thing about this culture is that you can't see the display without stopping by to watch or witness what is happening by the time people will be happy with laughter.
Like i said earlier in my last post on culture, this particular one above is known as Njenje and is popularly recognized for its beautiful and colorful display like women use to display with a cat walking. But looking at the above image, you will understand that they are three in number which means that the three of them are of the same age mate and anything they are doing must be done together.
The above image is known as Eze-lughulu which means the king of all masquerades. It is known for its beauty always protected by other masquerades to avoid harm as the king it is.
This is known as Otakpo and is the most fearless masquerade in Afikpo North Ebonyi State Nigeria. Once you hear the voice anywhere you may be at that moment, you must beware of it for you to run or find a place to hide to avoid any form of intimidation from the masquerade because that is what is known for. clearing roads or making the environment quiet for other masquerades is her job.
Well, this particular one might not look beautiful but is the strongest among all in terms of spirituality as a human being because is not everybody is allowed to tamper with it. It is known what is known for before what is called Isiji and after it, you become a full man in Afikpo.
Your culture looks amazing, everyone is dressed up as different characters. They look so beautiful, I really want to visit and enjoy the festivals of your village @apunawu
