Molten Elemental: The Flying Dual Attack Tank

in THGaming15 hours ago

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! The Molten Elemental is an epic, dual attack flying tank in the Fire splinter. In my opinion, he's the second best tank in the CA Fire splinter next to legendary Oridum Graybrow. In today's post, I'll share my reasons behind my view.

Stats and Abilities

Molten Elemental is an epic dual attack tank with five abilities that complement his role. Its stats and abilities synergizes well together that he can stand toe to toe even with the legendary tanks. First, he's an offensive tank dealing two ranged and four melee damage complemented by his insane speed of five. His abilities of Close Range and Trample further boosts his offensive stats. On defense, he's got the tools to be an effective tank. He has two armor and six health. Its flying ability and speed increases its chance to dodge physical attacks while its Void and Silence abilities defends it from magic attacks. It has a complete kit in its arsenal that makes it a perfect position one or two unit.

Role in Battle and Combos

My Molten Elemental is only at level one but I'd like to get it to level two to raise its melee attack to three. I usually use it as a secondary tank behind Drybone Megalodon who has the Flank ability. They are my tank combo in the Fire splinter. In Close Range rulesets, it can take the position as the primary tank and make full use of its dual attack from first position. It's also great in Earthquake rulesets where its Flying ability shines.

Featured Battles

Battle 1 - Dragon Splinter

In this battle I chose the Dragon and Fire splinters. I had my double tank combo of Drybone Megalodon and Molten Elemental. My next two cards were freshly acquired. Grove Doomblade is one of the new reward cards while Bren Palesworn was bought from the market. Night Reaper is a regular whenever I use the Dragon splinter because of its three magic attack and flying ability. Double edge unit Kha'zi Conjurer completed my line up. It's only two mana but deals a lot of damage. On the other hand, it's cursed with the Burning debilitation.

My opponent chose the Life splinter and took advantage of the archon's Bloodline Dominion by having three Ulunds in his lineup. In the tank position he had a beefy tank followed by another Ulund with Taunt ability. In third, he had a healer to sustain his tank. His fourth and fifth units were decent damage dealers.

The enemy strategy worked at first as my attacks were deflected by his Ulund's shield ability from the archon. It took a lot of hits before it got eliminated thanks to my Night Reaper. His tank was also a problem because it has shield ability and getting healed. However, I had a couple of Sneak attackers that eliminated the enemy backline units. This decreased his damage dealers and led to my victory.

In the next battle, I used the Fire archon. I had three melee units buffed by the Portly Cannoneer. I included a magic attacker with Demoralize ability to decrease the enemy melee attacks. I also had a Taunt unit to draw attacks away from my tanks. I had a great team with synergy and play their roles well.

The enemy chose a Dragon/Water team led by Commander Slade. He's one of the best tanks in my opinion but in this battle he's at a disadvantage because of the reverse speed ruleset. Making up the rest of his team are a some damage dealers including one that adds one health stat to his team. I think I had the better team synergy in this battle.

The faster units like Commander Slade and Molten Elemental often miss in this battle because of the Reverse Speed ruleset. On the other hand, Grove Doomblade with only one speed shone making full use of her five melee damage. I won the battle losing only my Taunt unit.

Final Thoughts

Molten Elemental is one of the best tanks in CA set. It has the perfect combination of stats and abilities that complement each other and fits his role as a tank with offensive and defensive abilities. It's fairly cheap at only forty five cents ($0.45) per copy so it's not that hard to level up but you have to level up your archon as well to make full use of its abilities.
