Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! In today's post, I'll show my new combo in Going the Distance ruleset: Thraghun and Bren Palesworn. Both are dual attack units that can be used in Going the Distance. Having dual attack gives them an advantage in a ruleset where only ranged units are allowed.
Thraghun

Thraghun attacks with ranged and melee. I recently bought from the market to level up my Thraghun to two. At this level, he deals two melee and one range damage. He has great defense with five armor and five health making him an ideal tank in Going the Distance ruleset. At level two, he gets the Return Fire ability, making him even more powerful in that ruleset. With Razi Clanktrap as archon, he gains the Close Range ability allowing him to attack with ranged in the front.
Bren Palesworn

Similar to Thraghun, Bren Palesworn attacks with both melee and ranged. I have a level one Bren Palesworn who deals two ranged and one melee damage. He is fast with three speed stats and has the Sneak ability, allowing him to strike with melee attack from afar. He also has the Shapeshift ability, allowing him to benefit from the Bloodline Dominion buff of any archon.
Featured Battle

In this battle, the ruleset is tailor made for my combo. In the first position, I had the Frontier unit Black Widow. She deals decent damage and has good defensive stats. I put her in tank position to absorb the initial attacks and save Thraghun who I put in second position. Thraghun is great at second position since he has a Reach ability, allowing him to attack with melee from there. He will soon take his place in the first position once Black Widow gets defeated. In third position was Bren. In hindsight, I should have put him in last since he has no business taking tank duties. In the fourth position was Deep Delver. He deals three ranged damage and has good defense. He also has a Rust ability that decreases armor of the enemy units. In fifth position I had Chaos Battle Mage. She also deals three ranged damage and has four speed. On defense she has an armor and five health. She has the Rebirth ability that allows her to resurrect once per battle. In last position I had the Meriput Slinger who deals four range damage. He slows down his target with Impede ability.
The enemy team also had Razi Clanktrap as the archon. His team composition has differences with mine. With me having Thraghun and Bren gave me the advantage in this battle. The enemy had Chaos Battlemage in first position followed by Frontier legendary card A'lan Musketeer in second position. He has Dual Strike ability but his attack is weak at only one range damage. In third position he had Tokatag Conscript and in Fourth, the Meriput Slinger. In fifth position he had the legendary card Death Ranger. It's high defensive stats make him a good tank in low mana battles and he should have taken tank duties in this one too, saving his high damage units. In last, he had another Frontier card, Black Widow.
A quick glance at the units shows that I have the advantage in quality. The enemy had some units that only deal one damage and had poor defense. He also positioned his units poorly, Chaos Battlemage and Meriput Slinger should have been placed in the rear to save them from being defeated first. The Death Ranger should have been in the first position because of its high defensive stats and low damage. It's job is to absorb attacks first. Lastly, I had my combo that gave me further advantage since they have dual attacks. The battle went easily in my favor.
