Last but not least

This is the last but definitely not the least part of my trip to Tilos, the lovely island of the Dodecanese, in Greece, where I have found relaxation, peace and amazing scenery!

Our first stop for this post is the castle of the knights, above Megalo Chorio (it means Big Village, in Greek). It is one of the 7 castles of the island that were built during the period of the Ioanite knights.

It is not well preserved but it is always nice to be at a place with long history and the view is just amazing!

We ascended the steep path from the village to the castle in less than an hour and we were there in time to enjoy a walk among the ruins and a gorgeous sunset!

In the picture above you can see Megalo Chorio and the castle on the top right corner of the frame.
Below the last few meters before we enter the castle.

The second part of this post is about a hike to the top of the island! We did the first km from Eristos beach, where we were living, to the heliport by car and started hiking at the 2,5 km long, steep path to the Italian watchtower on the mountaintop.

It is supposed to be 1 hour hike but as usual, we did more than two, stopping all the time to take pictures and rest!

Our destination is on the top right corner of the picture above. Pretty steep, don't you think so?

As we were climbing, the view was getting better and better!

And finally at the top! It isn't a difficult path and it feels so great to be up there with the whole island under your feet!

Awesome photos! What is that strange stadium-looking thing in the fifth picture? Is something planted in it?

Thank you @markkujantunen!
That thing is made to collect water during the winter to be used at summer. When I took the picture it was June and the water was already over but there was some grass on the bottom of it!

Very interesting! Thanks for letting me know.

Impressive photos! I always associate Greece with Gods! Now watching its lands I can understand why gods wanted to live there! 😉

Thank you @mballesteros!
I don't know if all those Gods were actually here but I can see what triggered the ancient Greek's imagination :)

Panemorfo! Beautiful photos and amazing place.

Thank you @gatubela, I am glad you like it :)
