Before traveling around the world, when I was excited by various travel plans, I decided to travel the Philippines for three days to check if I could travel alone. I was a little worried about safety issues because the news of danger was in full, but it was not a difficult trip than expected because my long-time Filipino pen pal friends brought me here and there to introduce me.
I didn't prepare much for my trip to the Philippines until I got on the plane. I forgot to bring my phone charger, and even to exchange money from the Philippines.
세계일주를 떠나기 전, 여러 여행 계획들로 설레이던 당시, 3일 동안 필리핀을 여행하면서 혼자 여행이 가능한 지에 대한 점검을 하기로 했다. 위험하다는 뉴스들이 한창 나올 때였기 때문에 안전상의 문제로 조금 걱정했었는데, 오랜 기간 연락하고 지내던 필리핀 펜팔 친구들이 나를 데리고 이곳, 저곳 데리고 다니며 소개해줘서 예상보다는 어렵지 않았던 여행이었다.
비행기를 타는 날까지 필리핀 여행 준비를 크게 하지 않았다. 휴대폰 충전기 챙기는 것도 잊고, 필리핀 돈을 환전하는 것마저 잊어버렸다.

Originally, they usually check-in before boarding a plane, but they said that maybe it's because AirAsia is a low-cost carrier, and that there's no need to check-in for flights to Manila. It didn't matter much because there was no baggage.
The boarding time for the flight to the Philippines was 8:25 a.m., so I had to go to Incheon International Airport by 6:30 a.m.

원래 보통 비행기를 타기 전 체크인을 하게 되는데, 에어아시아가 저가항공사여서 그런 것인지, 마닐라로 가는 비행기는 체크인을 할 필요가 없다고 했다. 뭐 수화물이 없었기 때문에 크게 문제는 되지 않았다.
필리핀으로 향하는 비행기의 탑승 시간이 오전 8시 25분이어서, 6시 반까지 인천 국제 공항에 가야했다.

보딩패스를 받고 조금 당황했던 것은 한국에서 필리핀으로 취항하는 에어아시아 노선이 마닐라에서 조금 북쪽으로 떨어진 Clark 이라는 도시로 취항하는 것으로 알고 있었는데, 그것은 재작년 정보였다.
내가 필리핀으로 여행을 떠나려던 시기에는 수도인 Manila로 취항을 하고,
Manila NAIA 공항 터미널이 1~4까지 있는데, 에어아시아는 터미널 3으로 필리핀에 입국한 후,
돌아올 때는 4에서 출국하면 된다고 했다.

저가항공인 에어아시아의 비행기 탑승 게이트는 공항 본관이 아니어서 공항끼리 연결해주는 셔틀 기차를 타고 이동했다.
When I arrived at the boarding gate, I had 40 minutes left, but I didn't have a PP card to use the airport lounge for free, so I spent time looking around the airport.
AirAsia is a low-cost airline that does not serve in-flight meals, and the taste was not that good, so we decided to buy food and ride it.
I bought one croissant and it cost 2,500 won.
As expected, living at the airport was expensive.
탑승게이트에 도착하니 40분이 남았는데, 당시에는 공항 라운지를 무료로 이용하는 PP카드를 가지고 있지 않아서 공항을 돌아다니며 시간을 보냈다.
에어아시아는 기내식이 제공되지 않는 저가항공이고, 맛은 그리 좋지 않았기 때문에 먹을 것을 사서 타기로 했다.
크로와상을 1개 샀는데 무려 2,500원이나 했다.
역시 예상대로, 공항에서 사는 것은 비쌌다.
AirAsia turns on air conditioner so strongly that many passengers buy blankets on the plane, and I already had experience riding of AirAsia, so I packed neck warmer and light weight padding. I bought economy seats, but there were fewer passengers on the plane than I thought, so I laid down my seat comfortably. I also took pictures to spend my free time.
에어아시아는 에어컨을 굉장히 세게 틀어놓기 때문에 많은 승객들이 비행기 내에서 담요를 구매하게 되는데, 나는 이미 에어아시아를 타본 경험이 있었기 때문에, 목토시랑 가벼운 경량패딩을 챙겼다. 이코노미 좌석을 구매했지만, 생각보다 비행기를 탄 승객들이 거의 없어서 좌석에 편히 누워서 갔다. 무료하던 시간을 보내기 위해 사진도 찍어보기도 했다.
In fact, my feelings on the plane to the Philippines are one of the most feared memories of more than 100 airplane rides I've ever had while traveling around the world.
I don't know if it's because the Philippines is a tropical climate, but as the plane passed through turbulence, the fuselage shook without hesitation, and I had to experience dozens of times a plunge as I felt the engine was not running like a roller coaster going down.
I had thought it would be fate if I lost my life due to an airplane crash during a trip around the world, but I remembered that I was praying really hard on the plane to the Philippines.
사실 필리핀으로 가는 비행기에서 보냈던 내 심정은 세계일주를 하면서 겪은 100번 이상의 비행기 탑승 경험 중 가장 두려웠던 기억 중에 하나이다.
필리핀이 열대 기후여서 그런 것인지 모르겠지만, 비행기가 난기류를 통과하면서 기체가 거침없이 흔들렸고, 롤러코스터가 하강하듯 엔진이 작동하지 않는 느낌이 들면서 훅 내려앉는 느낌을 수십 번 겪어야했다.
세계일주 도중 비행기 불시착 사고가 나서 혹시라도 목숨을 잃게된다면 그것 또한 운명이라고 생각해왔었는데, 필리핀으로 가는 비행기 내에서 정말 열심히 기도했던 기억이 난다.
