One of the Largest Murals in the World. Buenos Aires, StreetArt City.

in StreetArt4 years ago (edited)

Hello friends of the StreetArt community. I joined these days with great enthusiasm to finally find a place where I can share my passion and give pleasure to my senses. My name is Gustavo, I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I am a tour guide specialized in street art walking tours. If you want to check it, Im on Instagram and Facebook as Gustatrips.

From today my idea is that you meet and discover the quantity and quality of artists who use the canvas of my wonderful city to express themselves.

Here I share a mural with a great story, which is located in the Barracas neighborhood, in the south of my city. The work is titled "The Return of Quinquela", in homage to a renowned Argentine painter named Benito Quinquela Martin.

It is painted with freehand spray paint and its almost three blocks in length (about 2,100 sq m or 22,600 sq ft ) led it to the podium of the largest murals in the world and one of the most representatives of the city of Buenos Aires. The artist's name is Alfredo Segatori, one of the pioneers and reference of Argentine urban muralism.

What was all the rage with Alfredo's mural was that he portrayed more than 70 neighbors at the time. He began painting on a commission from the city government because it was celebrated on the day of the Riachuelo, the name of the river that is in front of the mural) and later, at the request of the neighborhood, the same neighbors began to ask if he could portray them, and so on. painted everyone.

The history and information of this artist is super extensive, so in future posts I will give you more details, and logically more images of his works.

I hope you enjoy!
