During my bike rides to work last year, I was able to photograph a few painted garage doors to continue my series on this charming feature of Montreal's alleyways. It's a nice change from the plain-colored doors that are often gray or beige. What's more, they're often quickly tagged. The best thing to do is to invite an artist to leave his or her work. The result is often the perfect way to add color to these alleyways.
Lors de mes trajets à vélo pour aller au travail l'année dernière, j'ai pu photographier quelques portes de garage peintes pour continuer ma série sur cet élément qui fait le charme des ruelles à Montréal. Cela change des portes de couleur unie, souvent grises ou beiges. En outre, elles sont souvent vite taguées. Le mieux est alors d'inviter un artiste à laisser son œuvre. Le résultat est souvent parfait pour colorer ces ruelles.

The first garage door is right next to the superb collaboration of Aldarwin, Hospek, Omar Bernal, Vagoe, Polographe and Deep (see Street Art Contest #234). This is the alley at the corner of the streets de Chambly and Saint-Catherine in Montreal.

The Street Art Contest #234 collaboration can be seen in the background on the left . In the foreground is this pastel-colored hot dog emerging from the shell like the Botticelli's Venus. As I said in the introduction, it has the merit of adding color to the alley.
On peut apercevoir au fond sur la gauche la collaboration Street Art Contest #234. Au premier plan, on a cet hot-dog au couleur pastel sortant du coquillage de la Venus de Botticelli. Comme je le disais en introduction, cela a le mérite de mettre de la couleur à la ruelle.
Lino (?)
A little further on, in the same Montreal neighborhood, is this garage door painted by Lino in 2022. No information is available on this artist. The style of this three-part portrait is simple, but quite successful. I'm not sure whether it's the artist who painted himself or the garage owner.
Un peu plus loin dans le même quartier de Montréal, il y a cette porte de garage peinte par Lino en 2022. Aucune information sur cet artiste. Le style de ce portait en trois parties est simple mais plutôt réussi. Je ne sais pas si l'artiste qui s'est représenté ou alors le propriétaire du garage.
Louis Letters & Lino
And we end this post with a garage wall painted by Louis Letters, a Montreal-based artist and designer, a great lover of typography, always excellent work on letters. He seems to have collaborated with the same artist as the previous garage door, a certain Lino. Cool “Sans Regret” (Without Regret) character.
