🇪🇸 ~ El TBT de hoy es para recordar cuando acompañé a una de mis personas favoritas en todo el mundo a un "Concurso de Cosplay" que sería una selección estatal; en aquel evento se escogería al representante del Estado Zulia para una próxima final nacional el siguiente año (2013) más o menos (mi memoria falla un poco, lamento no incluir las fechas precisas).
🇺🇸 ~ Today's TBT is to remember when I accompanied one of my favorite people in the whole world to a "Cosplay Contest" that would be a state selection; at that event, the representative of Zulia State would be chosen for an upcoming national final the following year (2013) or thereabouts (my memory fails me a little, I'm sorry I can't give the exact dates).
Esta fotografía me gusta especialmente porque es uno de los poquísimos registros que me quedan de cuando he sido "ayudante cosplayer", que es un rol importantísimo en el mundo del cosplay y especialmente para los Cosplayers que hacen presencia en convenciones o como en este caso, los Cosplayers competitivos los días de competencia.
I especially like this photograph because it is one of the very few records I have left from when I was a "cosplay assistant", which is a very important role in the world of cosplay, especially for cosplayers who attend conventions or, as in this case, competitive Cosplayers on competition days.

De este rol muy poco se habla o apenas se menciona a modo de chiste y memes en redes sociales como "el que te carga el bolso", pero un "ayudante cosplayer" podríamos decir que es un imprescindible en el universo Cosplayer para no sufrir:
Very little is said about this role, or it is barely mentioned in jokes and memes on social media as "the one who carries your bag", but we could say that a "cosplay assistant" is essential in the cosplay universe to avoid suffering:
Es el que te recuerda tomar agua, el que te retoca el maquillaje, el que te endereza la peluca, el que te ayuda a moverte por la convención, el que te repara algo cuando suceden accidentes, el que está atento al cronograma del evento para que estes a tiempo en las pasarelas y concursos, el que tiene tu cartera con tu dinero, tus documentos personales + tu celular, e incluso si llega a ameritarlo la situacion es una mezcla de niñera + guardaespaldas en los momentos complicados que puedan presentarse, y créeme que esos momentos pasaran cuando se trata de sitios con mucho público y stands de entretenimiento y tiendas por todos lados.
They are the ones who remind you to drink water, touch up your makeup, straighten your wig, help you get around the convention, fix things when accidents happen, keep an eye on the event schedule so you're on time for the catwalks and contests, carry your purse with your money, personal documents, and cell phone, and even, if the situation warrants it, they are a combination of nanny and bodyguard in the complicated moments that may arise, and believe me, those moments will happen when it comes to places with large crowds and entertainment stands and shops everywhere.

Afortunadamente cuando he sido "ayudante cosplayer" todo lo que he vivido a sido positivo, para mí siempre ha sido un gusto ayudar, especialmente a mis seres queridos, y en este caso @Vanuzza era una Cosplayer que daba gusto atender y cuidar, ella es una persona siempre amable, eso contribuyó a que la experiencia tanto de ella como la de los amigos que fuimos a ese evento a apoyarla fuera muy genial.
Fortunately, when I have been a "cosplay assistant", everything I have experienced has been positive. It has always been a pleasure for me to help, especially my loved ones, and in this case, @Vanuzza was a Cosplayer who was a joy to serve and take care of. She is always kind, which contributed to making the experience both for her and for the friends who went to the event to support her a great one.
Como dato curioso: Las horas antes de una competencia pueden ser muy tensas dependiendo el carácter de cada artista Cosplayer y la capacidad de organización y puntualidad del concurso, por ejemplo algunos participantes sufren ataques de ansiedad o impaciencia por la incomodidad de los trajes cuando hay retrasos en los cronogramas (a veces hay piezas en el conjunto de todo el Cosplay que tienen un tiempo límite para llevarse puestas antes que comiencen a hacerte daño), lo que no sucedió con Van afortunadamente, por su forma de ser ella siempre ve el lado positivo de las cosas y se enfoca en disfrutar la experiencia, también se esforzó mucho en la confección de su Cosplay de "Reina Esther".
Fun fact: The hours before a competition can be very tense depending on the character of each Cosplayer and the organization and punctuality of the contest. For example, some participants suffer from anxiety or impatience due to the discomfort of the costumes when there are delays in the schedule (sometimes there are pieces in the entire Cosplay outfit that have a time limit for wearing before they start to hurt you), which fortunately did not happen to Van. Due to her personality, she always sees the positive side of things and focuses on enjoying the experience. She also put a lot of effort into making her “Queen Esther” Cosplay.

¡Y eso que su vestido era ENORME y lleno de detalles delicados!, es complicado moverte con un vestido como este en una convención manganime en su horario más repleto pero Van siempre da lo mejor de sí y su actitud es positiva y paciente, asi que paso a pasito nos habríamos espacio entre la multitud para llegar a los lugares donde ella necesitaba o quería ir.
And her dress was HUGE and full of delicate details! It's difficult to move around in a dress like this at a manga and anime convention during its busiest hours, but Van always gives her best and has a positive and patient attitude, so little by little we made our way through the crowd to get to the places she needed or wanted to go.
Hoy día me gustaría volver a ser ayudante, es divertido ser escolta de un Cosplayer y ver y vivir la experiencia del Cosplay desde otra perspectiva, porque el Cosplay puedo dar fé de que se disfruta mucho sin ser tú el protagonista, puedes ser público, un admirador, o en este caso un acompañante "que sostiene los bolsos" ;3c
Today, I would like to be an assistant again. It's fun to be a Cosplayer's escort and see and experience Cosplay from another perspective, because I can attest that you can really enjoy Cosplay without being the star. You can be part of the audience, a fan, or in this case, an assistant "who carries the bags" ;3c

Seems like a fun memory with your friends. I've been to conventions, but mostly as a fan. Sometimes, my friends and I would cosplay, but we didn't really participate in the events on stage... I miss those days, but I really can't stand the crowd even more now. T_T
