Hola Chicos // Hi Guys
Como les había contado en otro post el sabado mi hija y yo tuvimos dos compromisos sociales. El primero una fiesta Junina, fiesta tradicional de Brasil y una cena en casa de una amiga. Anteriormente les conté de la fiesta y ahora les escribiré sobre la cena.
As I told you in another post on Saturday my daughter and I had two social engagements. The first one was a Junina party, a traditional Brazilian party and a dinner at a friend's house. Previously I told you about the party and now I will write about the dinner.
La semana pasada me llegó un mensaje de la profesora de ballet, en el había una invitación a una cena en su casa y por lo que decía sería para hacer un compartir con las hermanas de la iglesia. Para hacerles un paréntesis, hace unas semanas comencé a ir a una iglesia evangélica y a mi hija y a mí nos ha gustado.
Bueno a raíz de esta cercanía me gané una invitación a esta actividad. Mi única pregunta para ella era si podía llevar a Amanda, mi hija, porque no tendría donde dejarla. Ella me respondió que su hija estaba ansiosa por nuestra visita. Amanda se puso súper contenta al contarle que iríamos a visitar a Sarah, hija de mi profe de baile.
Last week I received a message from the ballet teacher, in which there was an invitation to a dinner at her house and from what she said it would be to share with the sisters of the church. To make a parenthesis, a few weeks ago I started going to an evangelical church and my daughter and I have liked it.
Well as a result of this closeness I earned an invitation to this activity. My only question to her was if she could take Amanda, my daughter, because I would have no place to leave her. She replied that her daughter was looking forward to our visit. Amanda was super excited to tell her that we were going to visit Sarah, my dance teacher's daughter.
Cuando llegó el sábado le expliqué nuestro itinerario a mi hija y nos empezamos a arreglar. Primero iríamos a la fiesta, luego volveríamos a casa, para después ir a la cena. Con Amanda fue algo complicado porque últimamente le estoy inculcando un poco de orden y le explico que para salir debemos dejar todo organizado, esto demoró un poco y casi nos atrasamos.
Afortunadamente salimos unos minutos antes de la hora pautada y llegamos puntuales. La cena sería en casa de mi profesora de baile, su nombre es Taline. Ella recientemente se mudó al sótano de la iglesia que estoy frecuentando. Sé que al leer la palabra sótano pueden imaginarse algo oscuro y sombrío donde se guardan cosas viejas, pero aquí no es así, simplemente es otro piso de una edificación.
When Saturday arrived, I explained our itinerary to my daughter and we started to get ready. First we would go to the party, then we would go home, and then we would go to dinner. With Amanda it was a bit complicated because lately I am instilling a bit of order in her and I explain to her that in order to go out we must leave everything organized, this took a while and we were almost late.
Fortunately we left a few minutes before the scheduled time and arrived on time. Dinner would be at my dance teacher's house, her name is Taline. She recently moved into the basement of the church I am attending. I know that when you read the word basement you might imagine something dark and gloomy where old things are kept, but it's not like that here, it's just another floor of a building.
Llegamos al lugar y como era primera vez que iba no sabíamos por donde era la entrada, tocamos un portón de metal que había y esa era la entrada. Adentro ya habían algunas invitadas reunidas en la cocina preparando nuestra cena.
Amanda al ver la sala de juegos de Sarah de una vez se fue a jugar y yo me quedé conversando con las mujeres. Poco a poco el lugar fue llenándose cada vez más. Al final las invitadas eran 20. Quedé sorprendida con la cantidad de mujeres.
We arrived at the place and as it was the first time we didn't know where the entrance was, we knocked on a metal gate and that was the entrance. Inside there were already some guests gathered in the kitchen preparing our dinner.
Amanda saw Sarah's game room and went to play and I stayed there talking with the women. Little by little the place got more and more crowded. In the end there were 20 guests. I was amazed at the number of women.
Cuando ya estuvimos todas listas Taline y su suegra comenzaron a hacer una representación teatral. El mensaje que nos dejaron con esa obra fue que: cada quién entrega lo que tiene en su corazón. Después hicieron otra dinámica donde nos entregaron unas carticas personalizadas.
Cada una de ellas tenía un mensaje escrito de Taline hacia nosotras. Fue un momento bastante emotivo porque todas leímos en voz alta nuestro mensaje y también le expresamos nuestras palabras de cariño a nuestra anfitriona.
When we were all ready, Taline and her mother-in-law began a theatrical performance. The message they left us with that play was: everyone gives what they have in their heart. Then they did another dynamic where they gave us personalized cards.
Each one of them had a written message from Taline to us. It was a very emotional moment because we all read aloud our message and we also expressed our words of affection to our hostess.
Esta reunión me gustó mucho, sentí que me subió la energía, no sólo por las dinámicas sino porque como se lo mencioné a Taline, creo que es la primera vez desde que estoy aquí en Brasil que me invitan a algo sólo por ser yo. No por ser la madre de Amanda, la pareja de tal o la trabajadora de la granja, ahí simplemente era Ana y eso me hizo sentir bien.
Bueno para no decir que no les escribí nada de la comida como tal, comimos perros calientes. También había un té de piña con canela que estaba delicioso. Fue una comida sencilla porque en realidad lo que importó fue el espíritu de compañerismo que se propició. Esta vez no les traje muchas fotos porque de verdad que el momento lo sentía muy íntimo, pero les comparto las que tomé. Un abrazo y hasta un nuevo post.

I really liked this meeting, I felt that my energy went up, not only because of the dynamics but also because as I mentioned to Taline, I think it is the first time since I have been here in Brazil that I have been invited to something just for being me. Not for being Amanda's mother, so and so's partner or the farm worker, there I was just Ana and that made me feel good.
Well not to say I didn't write anything about the food as such, we had hot dogs. There was also a pineapple tea with cinnamon that was delicious. It was a simple meal because what really mattered was the spirit of fellowship that was fostered. This time I didn't bring you many pictures because I really felt the moment was very intimate, but I'll share with you the ones I took. Best regards and see you in a new post.
Pd: they gave us succulents as a souvenir, we adore them.
