¡Hola Chicos!
Se acerca el día del evento Convinarte y hay que tener todo listo para el gran día. Hay muchas cosas que nos ha pasado en camino a este segundo evento y hoy me gustaría drenar un poco eso mientras les cuento sobre el armado de los lienzos.
En la vez anterior estuvimos trabajando con un carpintero, que aunque nos hizo un excelente trabajo con los marcos y los caballetes, actuó de forma muy grosera al exigir su pago.
Nos salió con una grosería como si uno no le fuera a cancelar el trabajo y envió una nota de voz muy grosera a mi teléfono cuando había pasado media hora desde que hizo entrega del trabajo.
Yo no le contesté en el momento porque en ese momento no tenía línea telefónica (cosa que el sabía perfectamente). Me estaba movilizando de un sitio a otro y no fue hasta llegar a casa de mi compañera donde hay internet que recibo esos mensajes groseros.

The day of the Convinarte event is approaching and we need to get everything ready for the big day. There is a lot going on for us leading up to this second event and today I'd like to drain some of that away as I tell you about putting together the canvases.
The previous time we were working with a carpenter, who although he did an excellent job with the frames and easels, acted very rude in demanding his payment.
He came out to us rudely as if we were not going to cancel the job and sent a very rude voice note to my phone half an hour after he delivered the job.
I didn't answer him at the time because I didn't have a phone line at the time (which he knew perfectly well). I was moving from one place to another and it wasn't until I got to my partner's house where there is internet that I received these rude messages.
No quedamos con ganas de trabajar nuevamente con él. Así que para esta ocasión mi compañera contactó otro carpintero. Pero a este no se le hizo prueba sino que simplemente se le mandó a hacer los marcos de los lienzos, confiando que haría un buen trabajo.
Yo los fui a buscar y al recibirlos quedé impactada por el pésimo trabajo que hicieron. La madera era súper finita, el acabado era pésimo pues habían muchas partes en la que la madera no era lisa.
Habían algunas tablitas mas finas que otras y hasta le faltaban trozos de madera, que a la hora de cubrirlos con la tela era más que evidente que no estaban bien.
We did not feel like working with him again. So for this occasion my partner contacted another carpenter. But this one was not tested but was simply sent to make the frames for the canvases, trusting that he would do a good job.
I went to pick them up and when I received them I was shocked by the lousy job they did. The wood was super thin, the finish was lousy because there were many parts where the wood was not smooth.
Some of the boards were thinner than others and there were even pieces of wood missing, and when it was time to cover them with the fabric it was more than evident that they were not right.
Fue entonces cuando le comenté a mi compañera que prefiero aclarar las cosas con el primer carpintero, que seguir experimentando con alguien que nos trabaje con tan mala calidad.
Cedí un poco en buscar a alguien nuevo pero los resultados de hacerlo hablaron por si solos. El orgullo de mi compañera sigue y quiere seguir en la búsqueda de alguien más.
Yo por mi parte me inclino a la primera opción que aunque resultó ser grosero, fue quien nos entregó algo de mejor calidad y fue más rápido para trabajarlo.
Igual ya se tenían esos marcos y había que trabajar así pues no contamos con tiempo de sobra para hacerlo, así que comencé a armar los lienzos.
Esta vez nos tocó trabajar con chinches porque no conseguimos las grapas de la grapadora (de esta aventura les hablé hace un tiempo) y es una opción económica de resolver, pues no tenemos el capital aún para comprar otra grapadora de la cual si se consigan las grapas de repuesto.
It was then that I commented to my partner that I would rather clear things up with the first carpenter than continue experimenting with someone who would do such poor quality work for us.
I gave in a little on finding someone new but the results of doing so spoke for themselves. My partner's pride remains and she wants to continue the search for someone else.
I for one am inclined to go with the first option who, although he turned out to be rude, was the one who gave us something of better quality and was quicker to work with.
Anyway, we already had those frames and we had to work that way because we didn't have enough time to do it, so I started to assemble the canvases.
This time we had to work with bedbugs because we didn't get the staples for the stapler (I told you about this adventure some time ago) and it is an economical option to solve, since we don't have the capital to buy another stapler for which we can get the spare staples.
Una vez cubierto la mayoría de los lienzos con la tela, comencé a hacer el gesso para cubrirlos. Hay que aplicarles dos capas y también cubrir los bordes. Esto lleva bastante tiempo hacerlo pero los resultados son perfectos.
En este punto recibí apoyo de mi esposo que fue pintando en una posición bastante chistosa. Típico de él haciendo cualquier labor manual.
Así fueron quedando poco a poco los lienzos luego de la segunda capa. Se fue todo el día en esto.
Once I had covered most of the canvases with the canvas, I started to make the gesso to cover them. You have to apply two coats and also cover the edges. This takes quite some time but the results are perfect.
At this point I received support from my husband who was painting in a very funny position. Typical of him doing any manual labor.
That's how the canvases were slowly getting ready after the second coat. He spent the whole day on this.
Mientras mi esposo me ayudaba yo me fui a la cocina a armar unas palmeritas. Este es un hojaldre que estuve trabajando en días anteriores y que por falta de tiempo no había cocinado.
Es mi primera vez haciendo hojaldre y la verdad que quedó bastante bien para ser el primero. Las palmeritas quedaron espectaculares, con ciertos fallos claro, pero muy sabrosas.
En la próximas que haga les comparto el proceso.
While my husband helped me I went to the kitchen to make some palmeritas. This is a puff pastry that I had been working on in previous days and had not baked due to lack of time.
It is my first time making puff pastry and the truth is that it turned out pretty good for being the first one. The palmeritas turned out spectacular, with some flaws of course, but very tasty.

Ya para la noche estuvimos armando la segunda tanda de lienzos porque el carpintero no nos había entregado la mitad de los que se le enviaron a hacer.
Así que corté las telas y nos pusimos a armarlos. A pesar de lo fea de la madera, logramos tener un buen acabado.
Solo faltaba darles una pintada a todos los bordes pero eso decidí dejarlo para hoy.
By evening we were assembling the second batch of canvases because the carpenter had not delivered half of the ones he had been sent to make.
So I cut the canvases and we started to assemble them. In spite of the ugly wood, we managed to get a good finish.
The only thing left to do was to paint all the edges but I decided to leave that for today.
Desde bien temprano desperté para finalizar con los lienzos. Ya hoy me toca pasar el cuadro a un lienzo grande.
Que por cierto les presento la obra de esta edición. Saqué la idea de un video que encontré en Pinterest y la verdad me pareció sencillo de hacer, espero que las personas también logren un resultado similar en sus cuadros.

I woke up very early in the morning to finish the canvases. Today it is my turn to transfer the painting to a large canvas.
