Rebuilding my bed

Today it was time to fix my bed. It turns out that the base of my bed was malfunctioning. When I got up, my back felt like it had been lying on glass. My son and I lifted the mattress and noticed that two wooden slats supporting the frame of my bed were bent, that is, broken.

That's when I had the idea of buying pine slats, which are the cheapest wood available where I live. Thinking about my bed, I remembered that my son wasn't sleeping well on the sofa. In addition to a slat for myself, I bought two more wooden slats for my son's bed frame.

I decided to fix his bed first. In fact, I already posted about how we fixed it, and now it's my bed's turn.

I had to take it apart completely. I removed the old, broken slats and also placed small pieces of wood on the sides of the wooden base to support my bed. When I bought it, the bed frame had a fixed base, so I had it removed and had to rebuild it to my liking.

Two wooden slats were placed on the sides and one in the center. On top of this frame, the new wooden slats were placed, intertwined with old slats that still retain their rigidity.

So now the base of my bed can be removed manually, without having to take it apart like we did today. If a slat breaks, it can be replaced without dismantling my entire bed.

I'm pleased with how we've done it. The wood was cut to the measurements I took myself. That way, I was able to use four pine slats, each 3.6 meters long, to fix two bed bases. My son's is 1 meter wide and mine is 1.40 meters wide.

It's very satisfying when you successfully achieve the goal you set for yourself.

The man who helps me followed my instructions and cut the wood according to my calculations. Everything turned out very well.

Today we assembled my bed, and I can say with certainty that I will no longer be lying on a mattress that sinks, hurting my ribs and giving me terrible intercostal neuritis, which seems to never go away, even with the slightest movement in a bad position in my bed.
