Mi travesía comenzó en el año 2018, pocos meses después de finalizar el bachillerato. Aunque la decisión de qué carrera estudiar fue fácil para mí, elegir la universidad adecuada requirió más tiempo y reflexión. A pesar de haber realizado la prueba OPSU y tener algunas opciones en mente, decidí explorar más instituciones antes de tomar una decisión final. Finalmente, decidí por estudiar en la Universidad Nacional Experimental de Los Llanos Occidentales Ezequiel Zamora, también conocida como la UNELLEZ, la cual tiene su sede principal en la ciudad de Barinas, Venezuela. El proceso de inscripción fue bastante sencillo… Aún recuerdo esos días con una sonrisa; fue una de las primeras veces que hice trámites por mí mismo, sin la compañía de nadie. Aunque al principio sentí un poco de miedo, poco a poco me fui sintiendo más adulto, entusiasmado por hacer mis propias cosas.
Sin darme cuenta, ya estaba comenzando el primer semestre de la carrera. Antes de asistir a clases, fui con mi hermana, quien ya se había graduado de la misma universidad, para que me mostrara algunos lugares y me ayudara a ubicar mi salón de clases. No quería perderme el primer día.. Recuerdo claramente cómo aquel salón estaba lleno de estudiantes; éramos aproximadamente 65 alumnos en mi sección, aún recuerdo a las primeras personas con las que hable, pronto se convertiría en “mi grupito”, fue una lástima que no me haya podido graduar con ninguno de ellos, ya que por diferentes circunstancias tuvieron que dejar la carrera o se atrasaron..

Hello everyone, dear Hive community. My name is Jesus and today I want to tell you that I recently graduated as a Computer Engineer. I want to share with you the incredible journey that I have been through throughout my career, from my first classes to the exciting day of my graduation. This journey has been full of complications, laughter, sadness and challenges that I was able to overcome thanks to the support of God and my loved ones.My journey began in 2018, a few months after finishing high school. Although the decision of what career to study was easy for me, choosing the right university required more time and reflection. Despite having taken the OPSU test and having a few options in mind, I decided to explore more institutions before making a final decision. Finally, I decided to study at the Universidad Nacional Experimental de Los Llanos Occidentales Ezequiel Zamora, also known as UNELLEZ, which has its main campus in the city of Barinas, Venezuela. The enrollment process was quite simple... I still remember those days with a smile; it was one of the first times I did the paperwork by myself, without anyone else's company. Although at first I felt a little scared, little by little I felt more grown up, excited to do my own things.
Before I knew it, I was already starting the first semester of my degree. Before attending classes, I went to my sister, who had already graduated from the same university, to show me some places and help me locate my classroom. I didn't want to miss the first day. I remember clearly how that classroom was full of students; we were approximately 65 students in my section, I still remember the first people I talked to, soon they would become “my little group”, it was a pity that I could not graduate with any of them, since for different circumstances they had to leave the career or they were late...
Decidí estudiar esta carrera porque me gustaba mucho todo lo relacionado con la tecnología, las computadoras, las redes, y la informática en general. Fue una enorme sorpresa para mí descubrir en el primer semestre que no veríamos nada relacionado con esto hasta el tercer semestre.. Primero vi materias como Lógica, Deporte, Lenguaje, y obviamente el temido Cálculo, el cual fue el encargado de ir despachando a muchos estudiantes, entre otras más. Mis primeros semestres considero que fueron los mejores, tenía mi grupito con el cual era divertido pasear y caminar por ahí, recuerdo que íbamos al Domo a jugar básquet o vóley, era super entretenido, para luego esperar el bus e irnos a casa. Ya después, entre el segundo y tercer semestre, las cosas se fueron poniendo más serias, y ya no había tanto tiempo para distraernos.. Luego tuvimos el acontecimiento que cambio la vida de todo el mundo.. llego la pandemia. El Covid fue el principal encargado de que mi corte se dividiera, otros siguieron mediante clases virtuales, mientras otros abandonaron o congelaron..
Los que seguimos a pesar de las dificultades, tuvimos que adaptarnos a nuevo proceso de enseñanza que era muy extraño, ya que no era lo mismo a tener profesores como tal que pudieron aclarar tus dudas, y la verdad muchos de los profesores en esta modalidad te tiraban como 10 Pdfs y te decían ahí está todo, resuelva.. y si uno les preguntaba solo te respondían que todo estaba en el material. Esto hizo que me replanteara si seguir o también retirarme.. Pero bueno, decidí continuar, aproveche estos meses para dedicarme a otras cosas, y demás tiempo para mi.. Pronto volvieron las clases, primero semi-presencial y luego completamente presencial otra vez, luego de eso aunque un poco despistado, volví a seguir con mis estudios.. Logrando hacer mi tesis, uno de los mayores retos que tuve, y con mucho esfuerzo logre alcanzar la máxima nota posible, 5/5.

I decided to study this career because I really liked everything related to technology, computers, networks, and computer science in general. It was a huge surprise for me to discover in the first semester that we wouldn't see anything related to this until the third semester. First I saw subjects such as Logic, Sports, Language, and obviously the dreaded Calculus, which was in charge of dispatching many students, among others. My first semesters I consider that they were the best, I had my little group with which it was fun to walk and walk around, I remember that we went to the Dome to play basketball or volleyball, it was super entertaining, and then wait for the bus and go home. Later, between the second and third semester, things became more serious, and there wasn't so much time to be distracted. Then we had the event that changed everyone's life... the pandemic arrived. Covid was the main responsible for my court to split, others continued through virtual classes, while others dropped out or froze....Those of us who continued despite the difficulties, had to adapt to a new teaching process that was very strange, since it was not the same as having teachers as such who could clarify your doubts, and the truth is that many of the teachers in this modality threw you like 10 Pdfs and told you there is everything, solve... and if you asked them, they only answered that everything was in the material. This made me rethink whether to continue or also to withdraw. But well, I decided to continue, I took advantage of these months to dedicate myself to other things, and other time for me... Soon the classes returned, first semi-presential and then completely face to face again, after that, although a little confused, I returned to continue with my studies... I managed to do my thesis, one of the biggest challenges I had, and with a lot of effort I managed to achieve the highest grade possible, 5/5.
Después de presentar mi tesis, llegó el momento de realizar mis pasantías profesionales. Decidí hacerlas en la misma universidad, y con la ayuda de algunos profesores, comencé este nuevo reto. Fueron tres meses intensos, pero pude aplicar de manera más práctica todo lo que había aprendido durante mis años de estudio, eso fue una ganancia…
No voy a mentir, hubo momentos en que lidiar con los jefes fue un desafío, pero al final, todo salió bien! Logré culminar y defender mis pasantías con éxito. Esta experiencia también me ayudo a convivir más con mis compañeros, aquellos con los que finalmente me graduaría. Aunque ya conocía a algunos, había otros con los que nunca había cruzado palabras, y fue genial poder conocer más de ellos.. Y bueno, después de las pasantías, solo quedaba hacer la solicitud de grado, completar todos los trámites correspondientes y esperar el gran día.

After submitting my thesis, it was time for my professional internships. I decided to do them at the same university, and with the help of some professors, I started this new challenge. They were three intense months, but I was able to apply in a more practical way everything I had learned during my years of study, that was a gain...I'm not going to lie, there were times when dealing with the bosses was a challenge, but in the end, everything went well! I managed to successfully complete and defend my internships. This experience also allowed me to get to know more of my classmates, the ones I would eventually graduate with. Although I already knew some of them, there were others with whom I had never crossed words, and it was great to get to know more about them... And well, after the internships, all that was left was to apply for my degree, complete all the corresponding paperwork and wait for the big day.
Llegaría el día, y estaba súper emocionado.. tuve la dicha de contar con la presencia de mis padres, y mi hermana mayor. Fue un día muy lindo, aunque no soy mucho de fotografías, creo que salí decente en algunas jaja. Me alegra mucho haber tenido a mis seres queridos ese día, sin ellos yo no estaría aquí hoy. Ellos han sido un apoyo incondicional, agradezco mucho a Dios por darles la suficiente salud y vida para poder verme graduado..

The day would come, and I was super excited... I had the joy of having my parents and my older sister with me. It was a very nice day, although I'm not much of a photographer, I think I came out decent in some of them haha. I'm very glad I had my loved ones that day, without them I wouldn't be here today. They have been an unconditional support, I thank God very much for giving them enough health and life to see me graduate... |  |

La vida está llena de procesos, momentos célebres. Grande por haber aprendido y vivido esta experiencia. Eres de la generación que aprendió a ser resiliente y soportar miles de dificultades. La dificultad más grande en estos momentos es la de una Venezuela contraída, pero es importante que llegaras acá.
A seguir por un camino grande. Me alegro mucho por ti, felicites. Los grandes son los que llegan a éste punto.

Me pusiste la piel de gallina y de mis ojos salió agua. Tu relato me llevó también a mis días universitarios, con buenos y malos momentos, eso no se olvida. Aunque fuimos en épocas diferentes, la vida universitaria se añora muchísimo. Yo visité la UNELLEZ por allá por el 2007 o un poquito más, fuimos de congreso y la pasmaos GENIAL ¡Felicidades! por esta nueva victoria alcanzada y que sea uno de los muchos retos que te plantees en tu vida.
