VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL
Me emociona mucho poder contar con esta nueva comunidad, espacio ideal para, entre otras cosas, compartir sobre nuestro día a día, que es un poco y algo de lo que le voy a compartir en este post, y es sobre una parte de mí que me viene acompañando una década, pues, desde hace 10 años soy profesor de dos áreas humanísticas del saber que me gustan mucho: filosofía y teología.
Doy clases en un instituto perteneciente al seminario "Divina Pastora" de Barquisimeto, el cual alberga jóvenes aspirantes para el sacerdocio, los cuales proceden no solo de la ciudad sino también de otros lugares del país. En unos de mis cursos actuales, por ejemplo, tengo alumnos procedentes de Barquisimeto, San Felipe, Carora y Petare.
Actualmente, doy clases todos los viernes por la mañana, las dos primeras horas de clase, teología y las dos últimas, filosofía. Así se lo pedí al control de estudios, ya que así solo tengo que dirigirme al instituto un solo día a la semana. No obstante, las clases tienen que ver con mi estilo de vida porque aunque no le dedico tiempo todos los días, al menos unas horas en la semana las aparto para preparar los temas, revisar metodología, plan de evaluación y pasar notas.
Dentro del área de teología siempre he dado una materia llamada "patrística" o "patrología", la cual es muy interesante porque trata sobre la historia y pensamiento de lo que podemos considerar los primeros teólogos, conocidos de manera general como "Padres de la Iglesia". En filosofía, si he indagado en varias asignaturas, tales como "Teodicea", "Seminarios de filósofos" y "Antropología".

En este post, además de compartirles una de las cosas que hago, también quiero decirles ¿Por qué lo hago?, es decir, ¿Por qué me gusta dar estas clases? Algo que me ayuda también de manera especial porque todo el cuerpo docente que labora allí lo hace "ad honorem", por lo tanto, es necesario darle peso a las razones que no tienen que ver, al menos directamente, con lo económico.
- Es mi aporte para revalorizar a la filosofía y la teología. Dos áreas de saber que a primera vista pueden parecer demasiado abstractas para preocuparse por ellas, pero la realidad es que desde el punto de vista racional, todo tiene un fundamento filosófico, y desde el punto de vista de la fe, la teología es necesaria para no caer en fanatismos, sino que se pueda integrar con todo el saber y experiencias humanas en general.
Esto es importante de manera especial para los alumnos a los que les doy clases, que al vivir en el seminario tienen el peligro de encerrarse en una especie de burbuja, mostrarle la aplicación práctica de lo que estudian, resulta en este sentido poder brindarle una herramienta para esa vida que está más allá del espacio donde viven.

- Me sirve para mantenerme actualizado. El peligro que cualquiera puede tener al terminar una carrera universitaria, es decirle adiós a los libros y a su continua preparación y capacitación. Cuando se es docente, sobre todo en esta época de revolución tecnológica donde prácticamente todo se consigue en internet, esto pasa factura de manera especial, ya que lo que los alumnos necesitan no es solo aprenderse unos temas, sino entender el valor de los mismos y cómo estos evolucionan en el tiempo en cuanto que el ser humano sigue investigando, indagando y mejorando su comprensión de las cosas.
Al estar en mi día a día en constante interacción con diversas clases de personas, esto me ayuda de manera especial, puedo decirlo así: para entablar un diálogo con todos en general me sirve la filosofía, para hacerlo con personas de fe, además de tenerla a esta tengo la teología, como sacerdote esto tiene un beneficio especial. Evidentemente, mi vida es más que filosofía y teología, pero tenerlas en mi caja de herramienta existencial le da un plus interesante.
- Sigo aprendiendo. Una de las cosas en las cuales pensaba cuando era estudiante era no tener ya la presión de las evaluaciones para dedicar tiempo a profundizar temas de mi interés. En esta etapa que he tenido de profesor siento que ha sido una de las mejores formas en que mi deseo se cumpliera, porque no en vano se dice que cuando más uno aprende es cuando enseña, y esta también ha sido una de mis experiencias, cada año que pasa no solo vuelvo a dar un tema, sino que comprendo más cosas del mismo.
Por eso, una de las cosas que siempre les digo a mis alumnos es que no se conforme con las clases, ya que al ser corto el tiempo que vemos en las aulas, siempre quedan cosas que quedan pendientes para profundizar. Lo cual es bueno porque les implica desde su etapa a involucrarse en su mismo proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje.

I am very excited to have this new community, ideal space for, among other things, share about our day to day, which is a little and some of what I am going to share in this post, and it is about a part of me that has been with me for a decade, because for 10 years I have been a teacher of two humanistic areas of knowledge that I like very much: philosophy and theology.
I teach in an institute belonging to the seminary "Divina Pastora" of Barquisimeto, which houses young aspirants for the priesthood, which come not only from the city but also from other parts of the country. In some of my current courses, for example, I have students from Barquisimeto, San Felipe, Carora and Petare.
At present, I give classes every Friday morning, the first two hours of class, theology and the last two, philosophy. This is the way I asked for it to the study control, since this way I only have to go to the institute one day a week. However, the classes have to do with my lifestyle because although I do not dedicate time to it every day, I set aside at least a few hours during the week to prepare the topics, review methodology, evaluation plan and pass notes.
Within the area of theology I have always taught a subject called "patristics" or "patrology", which is very interesting because it deals with the history and thought of what we can consider the first theologians, generally known as "Fathers of the Church". In philosophy, if I have delved into several subjects, such as "Theodicy", "Philosophers' Seminars" and "Anthropology".

In this post, besides sharing with you one of the things I do, I also want to tell you why I do it, that is, why do I like to give these classes? Something that also helps me in a special way because all the teachers who work there do it "ad honorem", therefore, it is necessary to give weight to the reasons that do not have to do, at least directly, with the economic.
- This is my contribution to revalue philosophy and theology. Two areas of knowledge that at first glance may seem too abstract to worry about, but the reality is that from the rational point of view, everything has a philosophical foundation, and from the point of view of faith, theology is necessary in order not to fall into fanaticism, but to be integrated with all human knowledge and experiences in general.
This is especially important for the students I teach, who, living in the seminary, are in danger of enclosing themselves in a kind of bubble, to show them the practical application of what they study, and in this sense, to be able to offer them a tool for that life that is beyond the space where they live.

- It helps me to keep up to date. The danger that anyone can have at the end of a university career is to say goodbye to books and to their continuous preparation and training. When you are a teacher, especially in this era of technological revolution where practically everything is available on the Internet, this takes its toll in a special way, since what students need is not only to learn some topics, but to understand the value of them and how they evolve over time as human beings continue researching, investigating and improving their understanding of things.
Being in my daily life in constant interaction with different kinds of people, this helps me in a special way, I can say it this way: to engage in a dialogue with everyone in general I use philosophy, to do it with people of faith, besides having it I have theology, as a priest this has a special benefit. Obviously, my life is more than philosophy and theology, but having them in my existential toolbox gives it an interesting plus.
- I'm still learning. One of the things I thought about when I was a student was no longer having the pressure of evaluations to spend time delving into topics of interest to me. In this stage that I have had as a teacher I feel that it has been one of the best ways in which my wish was fulfilled, because it is said that when you learn the most is when you teach, and this has also been one of my experiences, every year that passes not only I return to give a subject, but I understand more things about it.
Therefore, one of the things I always tell my students is not to be satisfied with the classes, since the time we see in the classroom is short, there are always things that are pending to deepen. This is a good thing because it involves them from their stage to get involved in their own teaching and learning process.
