To give some context for those who don't know me professionally, I work as a professor at an experimental national university located on the eastern coast of Zulia state. This year, I also began working as a teaching support secretary responsible for the bachelor's degree project in administration, with a specialization in taxation. It's an administrative position at the same university.
This week was my first time participating in the registration process, especially for regular students. The university has a system for students to register directly on the website. We also have assigned users for teachers and others for administrative staff. The fact is that the system was failing all week, so the process was carried out manually, requesting registration forms from students.
The system is the backbone of the university; it handles registrations, course modifications, schedule assignments, and everything related to the administrative process for students and faculty. There was no way for the system to function normally, so Plan B was activated so that students could register by submitting the registration form so that the teaching support secretaries could then formalize their registration in the system once it was operational.
The lines to register were quite long, but the process was quick, so we were able to respond immediately. Another classmate and I were reviewing, correcting, and receiving the forms, and then adding them to the system.
It's not a difficult job, however, the system has its tricks. Being new to this part of the university, I don't have an assigned user yet, and I'm still learning, but once the system was working, I was able to enroll several students without much difficulty. I liked this process.
Next week, on October 13th, classes are scheduled to start. For this reason, over the weekend, there will be a group of administrators working on the backlog of pending registrations, making the necessary changes, and scheduling class schedules. Everything is expected to be ready before Monday.
This experience was nice because I was able to share much more with my classmates, I learned more about the system, and we endured the day with constant cups of coffee, the occasional sweet treat, lunches after hours, and jokes. to lower the pressure, but we're still there, all for the well-being of the students.

Para poner en contexto a los que aun no me conocen en cuestiones laborales, me desempeño como docente en una universidad nacional experimental ubicada en la costa oriental del estado Zulia, también éste año comencé a trabajar como secretario de apoyo docente responsable del proyecto o carrera de licenciatura en administración mención: Tributaria, es un cargo administrativo en la misma sede universitaria.
Ésta semana fue mi primera vez en el proceso de inscripción, principalmente de los estudiantes regulares. La universidad cuenta con un sistema para que los estudiantes se inscriban directamente en la página, también tenemos asignados usuarios los que somos docentes, otros para el personal administrativo. El caso es que el sistema estuvo fallando toda la semana, así que el proceso se realizó manual solicitando a los estudiantes planillas de inscripción.
El sistema es la médula de la universidad, por allí se realizan las inscripciones, modificaciones de materias, asignación de horarios, todo lo que tiene que ver con el proceso administrativo de los estudiantes y docentes. No hubo manera de que el sistema funcionará con normalidad, así que se activo el plan B para que los estudiantes pudiesen inscribirse presentando la planilla de inscripción para que luego los secretarios de apoyo docente, pudiésemos formalizar la inscripción en el sistema cuando estuviese operativo.
Las filas para inscribir eran bastante largas, pero el proceso rápido, así que pudimos dar respuesta en el momento. Otro compañero y yo estuvimos revisando, corrigiendo y recibiendo las planillas, para después agregarlas al sistema.
No es un trabajo difícil, sin embargo el sistema tiene sus trucos, por ser nueva en ésta parte de la universidad aún no tengo usuario asignado, y estoy aprendiendo, pero cuando el sistema funcionó pude inscribir varios estudiantes sin mucha complicación, me gustó éste proceso.
La próxima semana, el 13 de octubre deben iniciar las clases, por ésta razón el fin de semana habrá un grupo de administrativos trabajando con la carga de inscripciones pendientes, hacer las modificaciones necesarias y programar los horarios docentes, se espera que todo esté listo antes del lunes.
Ésta experiencia fue bonita porque pude compartir mucho más con mis compañeros, aprendí más del sistema, aguantamos el día a fuerza de tazas constantes de café, un dulce de vez en cuando, almuerzos después de horas, chistes para bajar la presión, pero allí seguimos, todo por el bienestar de los estudiantes.
