I received an invitation from Professor Adriana Cabrera to participate as a speaker at the forum "Writing about sports: Passion and literature." Even though it was a big challenge, I didn't hesitate to accept. I was far from large audiences, but it seemed like a great opportunity to share my passion with others, especially with young people who are beginning to train in journalism and sports reporting.
I would share the stage with renowned journalist Cristóbal Guerra and chronicler Alfonso Tusa, two professionals with extensive experience in audiovisual media. The former is well known for leading the sports pages of the newspaper El Nacional for years and is considered an authority on soccer. He has also published literature related to his experiences covering events and his experiences as a university professor in the field of journalism.
As for Tusa, he is a prominent sports journalist whose publications stand out for their literary style. In his work, he uses real-life events and draws on these references to offer an equally valid alternative version.
To promote the event, we attended a radio interview on the station "La Cumanesa, 105.3 FM," on the program "Descarga Show" hosted by Alberto Ortiz. It was my first time in front of a microphone on a radio show, so I was nervous at first. I took advantage of this opportunity to bring my wife and daughter along with me to share the experience.
I enjoyed watching how the program is produced and the coordination between the operator and the announcer. I felt very good because Ortiz made everything flow smoothly. Aún cuando significaba un gran reto, no dudé en aceptar. Estaba alejado de las grandes audiencias, pero me pareció una gran oportunidad para compartir mi pasión con otros, sobre todo, con aquellos jóvenes que empiezan a formarse en el periodismo y la narración del suceso deportivo.
Compartiría el escenario con el reconocido periodista Cristóbal Guerra y el cronista Alfonso Tusa, dos profesionales con una gran trayectoria en medios audiovisuales. El primero es muy famoso por liderar las páginas deportivas del diario El Nacional durante años y es considerado una eminencia en lo que respecta al fútbol. También ha publicado literatura relacionada con su transitar por los eventos que ha reseñado y sus vivencias como docente universitario en el área de periodismo.
En lo que respecta a Tusa, es un destacado cronista deportivo cuyas publicaciones se destacan por su tinte literario. En sus creaciones utiliza sucesos que ocurrieron en la realidad y se aprovecha de esos referentes para ofrecer una versión alternativa igual de válida.

Se hizo la promoción del evento y en mi caso me tocó hablar de la presencia del deporte en la literatura venezolana, así que hice referencia a la novela Campeones de Guillermo Meneses, publicada en 1929, el antecedente más remoto en este tema.
La profesora Adriana Cabrera y Alonso Tusa hicieron un gran trabajo de promoción radial. En esta ocasión no contamos con la presencia de Cristóbal Guerra, pues él reside en Caracas y su intervención sería vía on line. Pero de igual manera se resaltó que estaría presente en el evento y que los asistentes van a poder interactuar con él.
Aprovechamos este espacio para hablar sobre el deporte y su vinculación con la literatura, incentivar a los jóvenes para que hagan periodismo de calidad, no desde el fanatismo por un atleta o un equipo, sino por el deporte. Es propicio además agradecer a todo el equipo de este programa radial que siempre está buscando resaltar la cultura y el arte en sus distintas manifestaciones.
