Tipping - Just ask - Its a call to action

in Brave Creators5 years ago

Over the years that I have been creating content, I have done a lot of reading on how to grow my followers, how to get more subscribers, content marketing, and general online marketing. I have tried many things, and I have had a good few successes. But it wasn't until I started asking people to sign up to my newsletter or subscribe to my Youtube channel that I really saw a more lasting impact.

CTA's or Call to Action is a term used in marketing that encourages a user to make a response. CTA's are not new to online marketing and have been used for a long long time.

A gentleman goes into a shop for a new suit, something suitable for the office. He tries on two and seems to like the second one. The shopkeeper tries to close the sale and askes the gentleman while he is admiring himself in the mirror, 'how would you like to pay for that today sir?'. A simple but effective call to action.

Everywhere we go, on the radio, on billboards, on flyers, in shops, online, there are calls to actions. It's marketing in action.

As mentioned at the start, I have had successes with different marketing tricks but many of them were not lasting. For example, I created a few 'List' type posts. You know the ones. '10 Tricks you can not afford to miss' type content. And yes it does great for a peak in traffic. But the traffic is not always the best quality traffic. People reading these posts like quick fixes, most of my content is longer and more detailed. They didn't stick around to read other posts and the bounce rate was high. I wasn't going to consistently produce list type posts, and marketing needs a certain amount of consistency.

It was only this year I started asking people on my Youtube channel to subscribe and give the video the thumbs up and I have been doing it consistently in all of my videos. And yes, I have seen an increase in subscribers and the number of thumbs up, and sometimes down. when I started blogging, my newsletter subscription rate was worse than shit. because I didn't have a call to action on each post asking them to sign up.

This simple simple step of just asking people works. Yet with those using web3 applications such as Peakd and Brave seem to be forgetting to ask for tips. Tipping is optional. Many readers just browsing content wouldn't even notice the tipping button on Peakd, or on Brave. If someone downloaded Brave because of the Adblocker, how likely is it they know they can tip creators? Let's face it, it's not like the little triangle in the browser shouts 'Press Me'.

As content creators using Brave or Peakd or any web3 application, we are early adaptors, we need to inform our followers, educate them and we need to ask them. There is no shame in asking for tips, especially if you are a content creator that's looking for an alternative source of income.

So if you are a Brave Verified Creator, start asking for tips. If you are a content creator using Peakd, give it a try too. People don't have to give and should not be offended by a CTA in your content. Ok so Peakd is a little different as earning can be made from upvotes, but the reader might like to reward you a little more and might just need a gentle nudge.

Have you asked your following for Tips? I would love to hear about your experience? Maybe you can share an example of some wording you have used. I can't wait to read your comments!!!!

a CTA is a common term in Marketing, and sure you are using one anyway without even knowing :-)

Thank you for the tip Paula. I haven't started vlogging or content creation that consistently but this post definitely convinced me to put a CTA to whatever content I plan to create.

Hay stranger, how are you? Great to hear from ya and see you around here

Hi Paula, doing good. Hope you and your family's well during this pandemic.

I have not but I’ve consider adding a little logo at the bottom of my footer with my crypto coin tree link it that lists my social sites and crypto address that I accept tips to. I have not looked too much into them yet to see how legit they are. It seems a few of the bigger crypto influences are already using them.

yes I have seen a few bigger players share wallet addresses and stuff which is great, really all you have to do is share a BTC address and ask for tips or donations 🤣🤣

Funny you should mention this - I've just started ! (BAT) - literally, yesterday on twitter. Still working on it..(ie I don't have a clue what I'm doing)

Can I steal your image thingy, above? lol

steal away, its not really great, I just put it together for this post. A gif or something more fancy would be better.

Gald to hear you have started to use BAT, are you going to verify your YT channel too?

I'm still kinda working it out - I'm 'BATTED' on twitter.(I think).
Being the tech genius that I am, I'll get there...

I only upload my vids to threespeak , at the mo...
So much to do, so little time...

(breaking news ! - I discovered powerpoint last week!)

PowerPoint, I guess you are enjoying it then?

I've only played around with it once - then got distracted...but it seems dinky!

I might be annoying you over this next few days (more than normal, I mean), asking for advice...

You have a better grasp on this new fangled computer/internetty thing than I do.
(I would hope so, anyway!)

No bother, free free to drop questions into the Excel for ALL community, (even if they are not excel) https://peakd.com/c/hive-102332/created

One thing also seemingly over looked, and that might help is word of mouth. Your audience providing how and who they learned from. Like when I mention I learned how to do charts through one of your excel post. I have seen on the block chain both steem and Hive where people are a bit wary of doing a shout out, but they do work. I know because I go to peoples pages mentioned in post.

So shout outs or mentions might be something to let your audience know you don't mind them, especially if it mentions a learning experience from you. I don't know how you would incorporate that in your post or outreach efforts, but it could be something else to think about with the block chain folks.

Shout outs are awesome and a marketing tactic that works great. Even established influencers like a shout out, and really, they are the dudes we want to be sharing our content :-)

Actually its a topic I might do a post on :-)
