Mamá Gata (Gatas criando) / Mama Cat (Cats raising)

in Caturday3 years ago

Bienvenidos a mi blog.png

Chispita, Greta's mother, was an excellent mother, she took care of her and her siblings with love and care, cats usually have behavioral changes or different stages of pregnancy, a few days before delivery and logically after this, it is good to know about this behavior if you have a pregnant cat or if you want to help a cat in street conditions, as the latter are usually more distrustful and this behavior is part of their survival instinct. So I will tell you part of the behavior that a cat can have so that you have some idea and so you can give her your support, always respecting her space since our presence could stress her.

Bienvenidos a mi blog (1).png

When approaching the due date the cat will decrease her activity, I presume that as it happens to pregnant women she must feel very heavy and her instinct tells her that her delivery is near, so she will start looking for a den where her babies can be born, she will choose a warm, quiet and solitary place, where to make a den to give birth to her kittens. When your cat is about to give birth, you will notice a certain restlessness in her, believe me you will realize that she is about to give birth, because she will either hide to prepare herself or she will follow you everywhere looking for your help. As it was about to rain, I took Chispita and put her in a clean kennel and covered her with a baby blanket to prevent her from getting stressed and at the same time keep her warm because it was night time.

You can also prepare an area in your house (preferably with a door) with boxes and blankets and once she gives birth put her litter box near her den or den because she is likely to do is strange places as she will not want to go far away from her offspring, also leave water nearby so she can hydrate herself after the birth.

After the birth of the kittens she will clean and nurse them, during the first weeks she will devote herself full time to her babies and will only leave her den to relieve herself, eat and drink, the reason she does not leave her kittens alone is that the kittens are born blind and deaf, they are very fragile and her instinct tells her to look after them. Whether the cat gives birth at home or in the street, try as much as possible to avoid the sights so she will not become anxious, since for her this is a sign of danger, of possible predators that could harm or take her offspring. If it is your cat or she allows herself to be handled, you can change the blankets or sheets that have blood on them for clean ones, this will help to maintain hygiene.

After approximately 4 weeks the cat will begin to leave the nest and let the kittens explore, since they can already walk, but she is always attentive to all their movements and it is a spectacle to see how she calls them if they go far away and they often ignore her. Now if the cat in question is in street condition I recommend you not to try to grab the kittens if you do not see that she is comfortable with your presence, she could attack you to get you to let them go, believe me I have seen it, there are cats very protective of their offspring, I have also seen them throw themselves on dogs that approach their offspring, it is something really impressive, it shows how protective they are with their offspring.

From six weeks the kittens begin to feed with solids and if their mother knows how to hunt she will begin to train them in her arts, with the purpose of transmitting the knowledge that she acquired from their mother, she also teaches them to groom themselves, to do their needs and to cover them, besides to put the order if the games between brothers become very abrupt. This is the perfect time to spay a mother cat.

There is something very important that you must have in mind if you decide to give the cats in adoption it must be after they are two months old or preferably three, since they have finished to be loved and their mother has already taught them everything she knew and they should learn, on the other hand do not be cruel separating the mother from her children at the same time, she is not stupid, she will notice that her children are not there, she will deliver one or two at a time, she will probably look for and call for her baby, it is heart breaking, the cat gets nervous, looking for her furballs in familiar places. Fortunately, this behavior does not last long and within a few days the cat sheds her motherly responsibility and is back to her old self.

Truth is,l never would have believed that l would seat back to read about cats. I'm not a cat lover but you kept me glued to my gadget till the final full-stop.

Woww... This is a very interesting write-up. Cats display a nice motherly nature and l like how caring they can be towards their offsprings.

It's a pity that many people separate these cats from their kitten at a very tender age especially those that rear cat for the sake of making sales and generating profit. It would be nice for them to read this post and see how wrong their action is.

I am truly flattered by these words, it indicates to me that the reader has made it enjoyable and that is what I am looking for to make it attractive and interesting to anyone who reads it.

On the other hand, what you point out about people who are cat breeders they know that, but I don't think they care, separating kittens from their mother at an early age can cause death and if they are saved they have a poor immune system plus some behavioral problems.

Cats are excellent companion animals, you should take a chance and adopt.

Lolll... I'm glad that you enjoyed my comment. I just couldn't jump the post without leaving a comment behind. I like to read so, whenever l see a Quality content, l try to read and learn.

I have a suggestion for you.
I wouldn't have been able to read this post if not because l scrolled down to the end. You can try a new pattern of dropping the English translation

Try to translate it paragraph by paragraph or, divide the page into two and use one side for English and the other side for a native language.

I believe that it would be better.

I don't know how to make those posts side and side, besides for me they are uncomfortable to read (especially from the cell phone), intercalating between Spanish and English could be and that because I have a computer again, I was making all my posts from the cell phone and working like this, first all the text in one language and then in another, for me it was easier, the reason why I put the Spanish first is because I am Venezuelan and although my first posts were first in English and then in Spanish, I only publish first in English if it is a requirement or rule of the community where I publish, in fact I place the titles in both languages (with the purpose that they know or intuit that it is in two languages) what occurs to me is to add to the title (Esp/Eng) so that they know that it is in two languages.

Thanks for your suggestions

Muchas gracias 🥰😜🤗

@actioncats
